Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

What are you favorite horror films that you've seen for the first time in the first half of 2014, including both new releases and older films that you have not scene before? It's a little early, but you can include any films that you've watched before July 1.

Even though I'm the one that made the thread, I still need to think about my favorites some more. The two definite are The Sadist and The Hunger.

I went with putting the thread for The Sadist in the exploitation section, but I keep regretting it and thinking I should ask to have it moved, so I'm going to talk about it here. It is far nastier than I was expecting. I didn't know it when I first started to watch it, but it is Vilmos Zsigmond's first American film, so it was shockingly gorgeous.

The Hunger is the other film that I absolutely loved. The cast is Catherine Deneuve, David Bowie, and Susan Sarandon, which is enough to already make it a favorite. Visually, it's a mix of 1960s Gothic horror and 80s goth subculture. It's too slow, but the atmosphere is just so unique that I can ignore it.

Pulse (2006). Majority of people really hate it but I liked it. Nothing great or special but a solid film IMO.
