"Smothered, written and directed by Hollywood legend John Schneider (Smallville, Nip/Tuck), sees horror icons Kane Hodder (Freddy vs. Jason, Jason X), Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects, Repo! The Genetic Opera), Don Shanks (Halloween 5, I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer), and R.A Mihailoff (Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III, Pumpkinhead 2), playing themselves in a scenario that sees them attending a small, disheartening horror-convention on Friday the 13th. Running out of patience but principally money, the group accept a cash-offer to go and scare-up the local RV park – but things take a surprising, dark turn when they arrive. The tables are turned as the monsters of the movie screen become the prey! Smothered, filmed in Louisiana, also features Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes), Brea Grant (Halloween II), John Kassir (‘The Crypt Keeper’), Dane Rhodes (True Detective), Shanna Forrestall (The Last Exorcism), John Schneider (Smallville), Adria Tennor (Mad Men), Andrew Bowen (Magic City), and Amy Brassette (Pawn Shop Chronicles)." |

They've been doing screenings and sending copies to reviewers. Hilariously, the director/writer seems to have turned to talking about weight loss and working out on the movie's facebook page to keep it having regular updates. It still manages to be one of the more entertaining ones I've looked at. https://www.facebook.com/smotheredthemovie |

Do illiterate people get the full effect of alphabet soup? Some people are like slinkies: not good for anything, but you can't help but laugh when one falls down the stairs. My review blog: http://donshorrormovieblog.blogspot.com/ | |

"I wouldn't do that mama!" The "when bunnies cry" guy was funny. What Trophy Heads does for scream queens, this does for male Horror actors - but it's just a bit better than Trophy Heads (for the first hour or so, at least). The Christine car being featured in this was pretty awesome. I hope it was one of the real cars used during Christine's filming. I love that Bill Moseley was in this with a few other recognizable people (Don Shanks, Kane Hodder, and so on) but I really don't get why, unlike the rest of the cast, Bill didn't play himself. "It's an RV park. Trailer parks is for TRASH." I loved DD and her mom. I wanted them to be featured more. I died at R.A. Mihailoff arguing with that random kid. Agnes needs to be a soundboard. I love that Don Shanks was such an asshole in this. Some of the music was out of the place. "I'm the Devil and I'm here to do the Devil's...SHIT!" The stuff about Saturday the 14th. autograph sales, and the tribute to dead icons - total gold! This was cheesy, stupid, campy, all over the place, and not meant to be taken seriously at all. It missed the mark at times and some parts were rather lame and/or slow moving so it's not quite a GREAT Horror comedy but it's definitely worth seeing once (I say 'once' because I don't see myself watching it again). "He done died of a heart attack or AIDs or some shit..." 4/10 quality, 6.5/10 entertainment. |
