Is it too late to get Christopher Nolan to direct this? Back in March is was officially announced that WWE would be producing Leprechaun: Origins, a remake of Leprechaun for Lionsgate, and that WWE wrestler Hornswoggle had been cast in the title role. It was also announced that Lionsgate and WWE Films had hired Harris Wilkinson to write the script.

Recently Crave spoke to WWE president Michael Luisi, who offered, “The tone is going to be a little darker, a little more traditional horror than the Warwick Davis ones that people remember, trying to find a way to please fans of that genre but at the same time this is really being played for scares.”

Luisi also conceded that the script is still in development. I’d like to note here that Wilkinson will have been given roughly 500% more time to write the new Leprechaun movie than Darabont was given to write the new Godzilla draft.

Blah. Whenever this does happen I'm sure it'll be a mess. They need to do a big budget SERIOUS remake with Warick(who played Lep in the first 6 movies) back. But have it be 100% serious and scary.

FINALLY on the eve of the Curse Of Chucky news we finally have gotten something on this! The director has been announced but don't get too excited, he's not a big name lol. I think this will be his first film.

So this is a remake then? Blah. Confused. I'll still watch it either way. Like you said, I want a serious film.

Me too. I wonder if he refused to return. From what I know he enjoyed playing the role but who knows. It's been ten years since the 6th movie so maybe him not wanting to return is why we haven't gotten any movies in ten years.

So for some updates-

According to bloody disgusting this movie has already been filmed which is weird since not one damn set picture or anything was leaked that I know of. Edit- Filming began in late July and lasted 3 weeks.

Brendan Fletcher(Freddy Vs Jason) stars as a lead character.

From what articles state it will be released in theaters 2/28/14. Though I doubt it'll be a wide release but who knows at this point.

It is indeed a reboot of the series and according to the director they're going a more serious route.

A comic con panel in New York will be held October 13th along with See No Evil 2

Wow I thought this was never going to happen. If this is released in theaters, I would be pissed cuz curse of chucky is more deserving to be released in theaters then that movie.
Fletcher is so eww but meh I honestly doubt I would pay to see this movie.

They showed a clip at comic con.

The Leprechaun: Origins scene featured a young woman in a seedy-looking cabin in the woods, afraid someone was looking outside. She looks outside and there's a jump-scare of a figure brushing past the window. She freaks out and her boyfriend comes in from the other room, trying to calm her down.
