Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

After watching all three films, it finally hit me how different this one is. Hats off to this trilogy staying fresh. The first two are different from each other, but do follow a simple formula. This one takes a new direction altogether and goes far with it. I like the first two better, with the original being my absolute favorite, but this third film is worth seeing.

RIP actor Rex Reason

He's better known for THIS ISLAND EARTH, especially to younger fans after it was featured in MST3K: THE MOVIE.

I absolutely loved The Creature from the Black Lagoon. The original remains my favorite Universal Monsters movie from the original cannon. However, I love The Creature Walks Among Us. In ways, it seems the filmmakers took elements of Frankenstein and incorporated them into the plot. Only, instead a story of humanity conquering death, its a story about humanity trying to dominate nature (which is what the entire trilogy's main theme was).

Very well put! I could not agree more with every point.

I instantly noticed that this had the best looking cast of the trilogy. Yay for the main girl being good with a gun and not just hysterical and helpless (though she DID become a bit scream-happy in the third act, sadly). I wasn't too impressed by the story. The experimentation/domestication aspects were kind of weird and didn't really fit too well for me. The underwater scenes were even better than the ones in the first two films, Bill was a total asshole, I loved that this spent a lot of time focusing on the characters' relationships. This felt more like the first one which kind of makes the second one - probably my favorite - a bit of an odd one out. The creature looked mostly shitty in this one, which sucks. I thought the ending was actually a step down from the endings of the first two. I liked this, sure, but it's easily the weakest of the trilogy despite the fact that it had the best character development and some really well shot scenes.

5/10 quality, 6/10 entertainment.
