Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

What are some Horror films that are pretty triggering? Don't be a smartass and list off a million slasher titles. Its a no brainer that people get stabbed to death in those.

List off films that involve certain things that people may want to steer clear of, such as;

- Rape
- Child Abuse/Molestation
- Self Harm and Suicide
- Drug Addiction/Overdose
- Anti-Gay Behaviors/Slurs, Transphobia
- Racism/Slurs
- Terminal Illnesses
- Animals, Children, and Elderly People Being Harmed

I know we all have our things but if people are really that easily "triggered" then maybe they are in the wrong forum.

To an extent, I agree. After all, the Horror genre is known for not pulling any punches when it comes to well...pretty much everything.

That said, there's certain things I avoid. For example if a movie goes wild with the rape and brings children into it (A Serbian Film) I'd rather know beforehand so I know; "Okay this movie is going to be pretty fucked and it's probably not one to watch alongside my mother the first time I see it." (lol)

Well, that's what the IMDb parents guides are for (although I usually use them to decide which movies I want to watch (lol) )

I tend to avoid those because while I like to know the gist of certain things, those parents guides are often TOO spoilery and they list really dumb things that are really not that offensive or whatever.

If you don't like it, don't contribute to it.

I don't think it would be rude to say that I'm the person that lists the triggers the most, and I don't want to try to guess what someone might be triggered by, which means I just list everything. All I need to know is that someone requested that this thread be made. Their reasons for asking are none of my business.

Also, there are tons of films that I've listed triggers for that don't have Parents' Guides on IMDB, so I don't know what good recommending that would do.

I can see where you're coming from. I do think it's a bit silly how some Horror fans are bothered by the sight of blood and murders in movies though. (wary) Rape, self harm, addiction/overdosing, necrophilia, child rape, child abuse, and so on though? I can see how it could upset people, though none of those things are particularly triggering for me.

I generally find those people less annoying (or at least less numerous) than the horror fans that feel the need to have constant discussions about what the most disturbing films are as a substitute for unzipping their pants to see who's the alpha of the group.

I have been updating my old post with new movies, since we're onto a new page.

Both can be equally annoying lol. I always have to warn people about my scripts and how animals, kids and the elderly are all fair game in them now since several people quit reading them partway through and insulted my abilities as a writer just because they werent all sunshine and rainbows. (shock)

I hadn't thought about it before, but I think it's interesting that the three people that are the most into this (me, Derek, and AJ) are the three members that I'd pick for having watched the nastiest stuff.

It's probably getting a bit too long and far back in the thread, but I'm still updating my big post.

Torture Porn.

Any movie that assumes that I'm entertained by violence for the sake of violence absolutely repulses. me.
