A bit of breaking news out of the Screen Gems panel today which welcomed Sam Raimi back to Comic-Con. Raimi revealed to the audience that he’s working with his brother and Bruce Campbell to bring Evil Dead to the small screen.

Yes, an Evil Dead television series.

So, add this to the countless other Evil Dead sequel/sequel to the remake news we’ve been carrying since the remake hit the screen. No other details to share other than that, so stay tuned for more!

Lol, I don't care. <_> I just...really hope he doesn't act all silly, obnoxious, etc. like he did in ED2 and AOD.

A little bit of campiness is totally fine. Being flat out STUPID and unfunny like 2 was at times and AOD was the WHOLE time is not fine. :P

Well...it...did get stupid with a lot of the stuff though, seriously. The dancing headless body, the severed hand giving the finger...

Henrietta was great though, as were *some* of the deaths.

It was completely goofy but I really enjoyed that aspect of it.

The original is a classic for a lot of reasons. I think I enjoy II the most because it is silly and I have fun with it. The remake was one of the better reboots I've seen, which I've said plenty of times.

I saw Army of Darkness back in the 90s but I only have the vaguest of memories of it. I'll get around to watching it again somebody but I'm not too worried about it either. I'm sure I'll watch it some evening with Alyssa though, she's a fan.

Remake > 1 > ED2 >>>> AOD, in my opinion. I do still really like Evil Dead II but I don't love it as much as I used to. Army is the only one I flat out dislike. :P If this is anything like Army Of Darkness or the REALLY annoying, over-the-top moments of Evil Dead II, I'll die.

Then you'll be a deadite!

While I like the remake, I can't take it over the original. It was pretty revolutionary for it's time, especially when you consider the budget and what they were working with.

II is just one of my guilty pleasure films that I'd see myself watching over the rest. AoD is just the black sheep period for it's plot as much as anything else. Just never underestimate the love for Bruce Campbell, which we've already discussed. I do like Ash though.

It could work but only problem it is a huge risk and would it end with another cliffhanger or just 1 ep because rated wasnt as strong as they wanted it happened Beverly Hill Cop so might happen with Evil Dead so might work but it is a big risk

If it comes to Netflix, I'm in good hands. I don't have the bigger channels like Starz, sadly. Nik seems to be on board for this when it comes on.

I think I kind of like that it's going to be half an hour, especially if that means more episodes. 8 or 10 is okay for a drama, but I always want more episodes than that for a show with more comedy. Starz doesn't really do commercials, so it'll at least be close to an actual half an hour.

Entertainment Weekly did an interview with Bruce Campbell about the show. The important bits:
-A new Evil Dead movie with Ash would be too expensive. The show is being made instead.
-There's going to be three main characters. "One is a male-bonding situation; the other is father-figure deal, since Ash could have a daughter the same age as this character. Hopefully we’ll pull Ash out of his loner-veteran mode and get him back into being a human being again." They haven't been cast yet.
-"There’s jokey horror and horror-horror. When there’s a presence in the room, it has to be dealt with because it’s an extremely dangerous and volatile situation. Humor may come out of it, but there’s nothing funny about a demon ripping somebody’s head off. And the beauty of Starz is there’s no content issues. Let’s face it: Fans want the carnage and the mayhem. So we intend to give them quite the explosion of viscera. Most of it directed at me, unfortunately."
-He thinks they will probably be using a mix of practical effects and CGI. They don't seem to know too much about the story yet.

With the Television Critics Association (TCA) Winter 2015 Press Tour under way, some new details regarding the much talked about upcoming Evil Dead-based TV show, “Ash vs. Evil Dead,” have surfaced. Read on for the latest.

The series, which reunites executive producer/director Sam Raimi, executive producer Rob Tapert, and executive producer/star Bruce Campbell, will be home to half-hour long episodes, not hour-long as many have assumed. Starz head Chris Albrecht said, “The half-hour idea was their idea. And I can tell you it’s a chock-full half hour.”

IGN caught up with Albrecht, who dropped the following details on them. “We are shooting it in New Zealand. We’ll have to import some cars that drive left-hand and import some signs because it kind of takes place in classic American towns or cities. Rob Tapert, who is the heart and soul of that hands-on producing team, makes his home there and we shot “Spartacus” there and there are great production teams there. We’re looking forward to being down there and flying talent back and forth.”

As for when the show will premiere, Albrecht said, “I think most likely it will be fourth quarter [of 2015]. End of third quarter, fourth quarter, something like that. We’ve got a lot of shows this year. We’re very, very excited.”

In the half-hour horror-comedy “Ash vs. Evil Dead,” Ash takes a road trip to banish his demons alongside two young helpers and his trusty boomstick.

I can't say that I like anything about that promo poster. The news sounds good, though.
