Night Shift is the first collection of short stories by Stephen King, first published in 1978. In the 1980s, entrepreneurial film producer Milton Subotsky purchased the rights to six of the stories in this collection with the intention to produce feature films and a television anthology based on multiple stories. Although Subotsky was involved with several King adaptations (Cat's Eye, Maximum Overdrive, Sometimes They Come Back, The Lawnmower Man) the television series never came to fruition due to conflicts with the network's Standards and Practices.

I didn't know that either (though I'm sure I would have known if I'd bothered to read about this lol). I still need to read the book itself too. (wary)

I don't care for his newer stuff. His older stuff, such as some of the really well known ones (Carrie, Cujo, Christine, Misery, Pet Sematary, and so on) are great. Nowadays nothing really interests me enough to read it (except for Cell which was great until the last 50 pages or so, and Under The Dome which I've heard great things about but I still need to read sometime). :P

I bet I haven't read anything of his from 2000 onward. I don't even know what's out there.

Those are all good, but I never read Pet Semetary for some reason.

Not sure if I read all the stories, but I did read most. Especially the ones that were adapted onto film. The one's that still stick out in my head, good or bad, are TRUCKS, CHILDREN OF THE CORN, THE MANGLER, LAWNMOWER MAN and SOMETIMES THEY COME BACK.

Good stories.

I didn't know there were plans to televise any of it.
