SOLD! Still though...should be eight friends, not six. Oh well, I just hope is not '5 guys, 1 girl' or something. And I love that poster, especially the font. |

I'm reading Hostel meets The Tattooist. Doesn't seem like a likely combination but this one might be better than the sum of those parts. |

Do illiterate people get the full effect of alphabet soup? Some people are like slinkies: not good for anything, but you can't help but laugh when one falls down the stairs. My review blog: http://donshorrormovieblog.blogspot.com/ | |

Release bump This changed titles from Parlor to Anarchy Parlor. I'm not seeing anything super definitive, but it was filmed in Lithuania, so I went with putting this in the foreign horror category for right now. If anyone runs into anything about if it's considered a Lithuanian film or not, I'd definitely appreciate it. |

I forgot to mention this, but the limited theatrical release won't be until June 19th. |

Will it be showing up in theaters in the U.S.? If it comes here I'll definitely see it. But if not, I'll find another way to watch it since it sounds really good. |

It is. I'm not sure how limited the release is though. There's four other horrors getting limited releases that day, so I'm not really sure that it'll be going to that many cities. |

Most of the whole month of June is totally packed with limited releases. There's also Insidious on the 5th: June 5th: The Diabolical, The Encounter, We Are Still Here, and The Nightmare (It's technically a documentary, but it's been getting tons of press from horror sites.) June 12th: LA Slasher and The Stranger. June 19th: This, Burying the Ex, Dark Awakening, and Pernicious |

This was pretty awesome, haha. For the most part, it's planted firmly in Hostel/Turistas territory (and it's better than Turistas and Hostel III but still not as good as the first two Hostels) with a group of tourists being kidnapped, tortured, and used for profit. It's nothing totally original (though I have to give them some creativity props for what the side business actually is) and the structure, pacing, and deaths are all too familiar but it still manages to stand out. Part of what made this so good is the fact that it didn't overcomplicate things or try to be more than what it was. They didn't get too heavy-handed with any of the social commentary or whatever and while it was a really serious movie, it still allowed itself to be a fun movie as well. I also loved the killers. Uta is probably going to stand out as one of the best, most psychotic and sadistic female villains we see this year. She was also really hot and I loved how she had a sort of 'vampire-like menace' going on. Loved her<3. "Artist" was also pretty memorable. I liked his actor a lot more here than in The Human Centipede III (which I saw him in only a couple days before). The victims weren't all that great. Most of them had their fair share of annoying moments and while I liked the main girl, her repetitive lines ("Youre SICK! Fuck YOU!" was said like five fucking times) and crying got to be a bit much. It was nice that she wasn't the only one who fought back though. In fact, one of the bigger fighters in the group ended up being one of the smallest, most whiny girls in the group which was AWESOME. The deaths were nothing too new. We get skinnings, stabbings, stranglings, and quite a few gunshot kills. One scene involving a clit piercing kind of got to me and there were a few cringeworthy shots of violence but for the most part it was standard slasher stuff. The effects were good aside from a couple of CGI-looking moments that can easily be overlooked. The pacing isn't too bad but it doesn't exactly move at a breakneck pace either. It starts just like the Hostels/Turista did - with the group partying and hanging out for over 20 minutes before the shit starts to hit the fan. And one of the characters randomly took a detour to a stripclub for no reason. But I forgive that since it led to a pretty funny, bitchy character and the clit piercing. ![]() Overall, this was pretty good. I doubt it'll be a favorite of mine this year but I'm already sure it won't be in my bottom 20 or so. 5.5-6/10 quality, 7/10 entertainment. |

How much time do they spend showing off the setting? I'm trying to decide where to prioritize this, and I like the tourism advertisement part of these kinds of movies. |

Not as much time as I wish they had. The tattoo parlor is pretty interesting, there's a big party scene at the beginning, there's a stripclub that isn't anything too special, and a few minutes are spent outside in the streets (which is where a big chase is set which was nice). It's not as location-showy as the other movies I mentioned in my review but they showed enough. |

Yeah, of the 40-or-so 2015 releases I've seen so far, this is probably the 25th best. Like I said, I doubt it'll be one of my favorites but I already know it won't end up being one of my least favorites since it's already better than quite a few I've seen. |
