A young filmmaker, Harold Maxwell is filming a behind-the-scenes documentary about his friends - the Spirit and Paranormal Investigation Team, (S.P.I.T) and their ghost hunting reality show. Harold joins the S.P.I.T crew as they head out to their next assignment, to film an old, abandoned and supposedly haunted orphanage, Hollows Grove. Soon after arriving at the orphanage the team begins to realize that what they thought would be a routine investigation is turning in to a nightmare from which they can’t escape

It sounds alot like Grave Encounters.
You kill or you die. Or you die and you kill.

Let's just hope it's BETTER than that. (lol) I like the poster too; looks sort of 80s but it's not super forced and try-hard-cheesy like some are.

So...this was not very good. (wary)

The funny character interactions in the first third of it, the tour of some areas of the orphanage, the backstory of the orphanage and descriptions of some of the events that took place there...all of that got my hopes up. They even used the found footage angle well and did a good job of poking fun at paranormal investigation crews/shows. Sadly, it took WAY too long for stuff to actually start happening and when stuff finally did start happening, it was far from great. The ghosts looked really cruddy for the most part, the jumpscares were as cliché and ineffective as they come, most of the characters stopped being interesting by the 40 minute mark (and the death order was dumb since 2 of the 3 good characters were the first to go) and most just became annoying, the deaths were decent but not really good, and the ending left me with an (un) face.

I didn't hate it and it definitely has some good things about it (funny dialogue, great location, good backstory, and it was nice that the one girl in the group was black). Some of the guys were also really cute. *shrug*

I can't say I recommend it but it's not something to avoid like the plague. If it ends up on Netflix or something, give it a watch I guess. I doubt I'll see it again though.

4/10 quality, 5.5/10 entertainment.

The film itself wasn't great, not piece of trash... but fuck...the poster is great!
It was director's first film so i guess for its kind it was ok, but nothing new.

I'm still 'lolwut' at Mykelti Williamson randomly being in this.
