Beneath the fake blood and cheap masks of countless haunted house attractions across the country, there are whispers of truly terrifying alternatives. Looking to find an authentic, blood-curdling good fright for Halloween, five friends set off on a road trip in an RV to track down these underground Haunts. Just when their search seems to reach a dead end, strange and disturbing things start happening and it becomes clear that the Haunt has come to them…

Yeah, I've seen stills and other news about this. Looks pretty bizarre.

Yeah, I was too lazy to make a thread for a few months until it was finally already released.

I'd recommend either hurrying up and watching this or waiting until next Halloween. The Halloween atmosphere definitely helps make some of the problems more forgivable. There are some very good moments. A steadier hand during the earlier haunted house scenes would have definitely helped those be more effective. The ending is pretty abrupt, and it is a bit of a letdown. It's still one of the better found footage films that I've seen lately. The best part is probably the actual documentary footage that they stuck in, which really helps the atmosphere.

Someone that's really into haunted houses will probably like it more.

I totally forgot this movie existed, until John brought it up on the phone tonight. I'll probably be watching it soon.

It built up to something big and then just sort of...ended. It left me wanting more and I felt they missed the boat. What was the point of the characters talking about their worst fears (snakes!) if they never planned on using that? Why not use the minutes that scene took up to give us another creepy scene of the group being stalked? Meh.

Overall though, this was a pretty solid movie. I liked seeing all of the different haunted house attractions that they went to and I really hope that 'full tours' of them are on the DVD since that was some of the most interesting stuff in this. The main villains were really creepy, especially the girl who looked like a porcelain doll. Her 'big scene' really stuck with me and i couldn't wait to see her go nuts on the group but

Seriously, what gives?! Again, they set up something nicely only to not give us the payoff. (un)

The characters were okay i guess. I've already forgotten their names but while watching it, I was able to separate them. Their interactions were pretty funny and a lot of the acting here was convincing (and it takes a good actor to repeatedly fall into bad-decision-making mode and make it feel real). (lol) For the most part, like i said, this was enjoyable. I just wish they'd extended the third act a bit to give us some chase scenes, actual kills, etc. (wouldn't it have been sweet if the main lair had been made up to look like a haunted house attraction instead of just some dumpy house?!).

Since the ending was such an abrupt letdown, I almost wish they'd given us an

This really should not have been as forgettable as it was. They really had a cool concept with this, but it kind of fell flat, and I really wanted to like it. I didn't HATE it, and there ARE a few somewhat creepy bits in it, but overall, I just wanted more, and there were even spots in the movie where I felt bored. The best parts about it were the random interview segments, honestly.

Yeah, I may have been a little too generous with my rating, especially the 'Entertainment' rating. It was good but I think part of why I enjoyed certain parts is the fact that i was expecting it to be building up to a crazy, chaotic ending.

Yeah, the ending didn't help much. Also, I'm not one to complain about Found Footage movies, but for some reason it really bothered me in this, even though it's a perfect movie for a found footage scenario.

I overcame my found footage fatigue to give this one a try and I think I agree with the consensus. Terrible pacing, I felt like I was watching it forever, so when the non ending came along it ultimately felt like a waste of time.

I was seriously hoping for this, it would have made a lot more sense.

Big disappointment, especially considering how invested I became in the characters. Best thing about it, they felt like real people.

Oooh! That twist would have been great for this movie! I almost wish that actually happened, because the actual movie itself wasn't that great.

I thought it had a decent plot at first

There some good haunted house scenes but when the really scary stuff happens to them

Well it was not scary or it was just really odd and not in a good way .

Most of time I was thinking it all a big hoax but it's wax not , I wish it Was.

I don't understand why those peolpe were doing what they were doing

I felt like I missed a part of a movie.

Acting was just annoying

3 out of 10

According to the second film, this DID end in a "gotcha" fashion like April Fools Day so that's nice.

I'm watching it now and liking it more this time. The characters are fun and the dialogue is hilarious. The "high scene" and the main girl's reactions during the first haunt made me crack up. The Ohio rap was tragically accurate and I'm always happy when movie characters point out how gross beer foam is since I'm probably one of the only people who hates beer foam.
