Three stories of horror connected through the pages of dead girls' diaries. In one, a ghostly apparition seeks revenge upon the man who betrayed her love and is responsible for her death. In another a mystical object helps a young woman reach out from beyond the grave to exact her revenge against the stuck up sisters of a college sorority. And in the third a young woman who has lost her way and her faith finds the answer to her prayers in the last place she would have expected.

IMDb claims it hasn't been released yet, but this came out on VOD last month and DVD a couple days ago.

Yeah, it's an anthology. It sounds like it has a V/H/S-like set-up.

This wasn't bad. It gets better as it goes on. The framing story doesn't get interesting until the very last part. The plot of the first segment was definitely the least interesting. The effects and acting get better with each segment. I like that all the segments had a strong thematic link, and the segment that is intended to link them together actually does it very thoroughly. I would have liked it to be edited a bit differently, but I really appreciate that they took the time to come up with a framing device that actually adds structure to the story. The influence is a lot less V/H/S and more Tales from the Crypt.

Lynn Lowry doesn't show up until the very end, so don't be like me and be waiting anxiously for her to show up. It's a small cameo, but it's a good one.

The now-overused 'blood in water' title card and the fact that this is from Brain Damage Films didn't exactly get me excited right away but I quickly put aside my worries and was able to really get into this.

Frame Story; Probably my least favorite part of the film overall, but still not BAD by any means. The sound of the ghost (or whatever) made me think of Dark Castle's earlier films, which was nice. The drawings and stuff that the girl kept finding which led us from one story to the next was a nice touch. The very end was...not too great. I guess I get what they were doing but I wasn't too impressed. (wary)

OVER MY DEAD BODY - I didn't care for many of the characters and some of their interactions (such as Susie's tantrum at the beginning) were pretty laughable. I liked the random tattoo guy. He should've been a bigger part of it. "It's aaaaall in the wrist! ;) " Travis was somewhat cute,

and I was VERY annoyed that everyone acted so casual and at times very nasty after that death. I get that we were supposed to dislike these people but that felt off for me. The tattoo flaring up was cheesy. The effects were alright I guess.

THETA PHIS NEVER DIE - I didn't like that whiny song at the beginning but that's pretty much the worst thing about this (this segment is my favorite even if the third segment had the best story and this felt a bit too much like Sorority Row meets Tamara most of the time). These characters, unlike those in the previous segment, had some genuinely funny and entertaining conversations and the bickering was especially amusing. This also scores points for using the 'stiff as a board and needs a screw' line. The electrocution was unimpressive, the

= great and I liked the sudden kill toward the end. Not a GREAT segment but better than the others, still.

VENGEANCE IS MINE - Tonya's actress looked like the black girl from The Pumpkin Karver, lol. I liked Maggie more than Susie but not as much as Avery. I really appreciated that in such a short time, this managed to go after some pretty harsh and heavy issues from corruption in the church to prostitution to rape and so on. (shock) The tone was great but I hated the weird static-y cuts. Tonya was SO nasty and over the top and I found it interesting that it was the second segment in a row to have a

I really liked this but it's definitely not a new favorite of mine or anything.

Theta Phis Never Die > Vengeance Is Mine > Over My Dead Body > Frame story.

5/10 quality, 6.5/10 entertainment.
