Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

I'm gonna try to bypass the obvious answers here: The Thing and The Fly (although The Thing is one of my all time favourite movies).

But one I really like that I feel is underrated is the 2010 remake of The Wolfman. Particularly the Unrated DVD cut (which is the only version I've seen all the way through).

That movie is like, my quintessential monster movie. Classic movie beast, the gore and werewolf action is really brutal, the atmosphere perfectly captures the feel of the classic Universal horror stuff, loved Benicio del Toro in the role and Hugo Weaving. And the movie had a real good sense of fun about it. That asylum sequence is absolutely great.

It feels like the perfect update of the original movie to me. Capturing the charm and spirit, but making scary for a new generation. Love it.

What Jared said. (wary)

The Town That Dreaded Sundown (if it counts)
Night Of The Living Dead (1990)
Dawn Of The Dead
Halloween
Halloween II (if it counts)
Evil Dead
Maniac
The Ring
House On Haunted Hill
Piranha 3D
The Blob (1988)

I like My Bloody Valentine, Friday The 13th, A Nightmare On Elm Street (sorta), and Black Christmas too - mainly for the fun factor of most of those.

During the remake craze in the latter part of the previous decade, whichever were the R-rated remakes I actually enjoyed. I'll have to go through and re-do this again as I'm trying a blank on most of these.
Do illiterate people get the full effect of alphabet soup?

Some people are like slinkies: not good for anything, but you can't help but laugh when one falls down the stairs.

And for some reason, a lot of people forget Sorority Row when listing off good/entertaining remakes (even though they gush about it elsewhere). :P I've noticed that on a few sites.

AH! I keep forgetting Stoker is a remake. (wary) You know I love that movie so I should probably track down the original.

If you do, rewatch Stoker before watching the original. It's more fun in that order.
