![]() When a protective father meets a murderous ex-con, both need to deviate from the path they are on as they soon find themselves entangled in a downwards spiral of lies and violence while having to confront their own inner psyche. The reason the plot summary is so vague is because there's a twist 45 minutes in. |

It's not as great as people were saying, but it's still good. It drags a bit at points, but there's enough twists and switching between genres for it to always bounce back. The cinematography is great. All three of the lead actors are really good. Don Johnson brought a lot of excitement back to the movie. I am starting to get a little bored with the trend of thrillers with an '80s influence, which I think might have had a definite impact on my enjoyment of this movie. |

I'd recommend it. It's a really hard movie to talk about, because it's impossible to say anything even slightly specific about the plot or characters without spoiling the first twist. |

Lol, I hate that. There's been quite a few movies that I recommend to people but cant go into details without wrecking something. The original Saw is an example of that, especially when it first came out since all I could tell people was "some guy puts people in life or death situations to teach them the error of their ways" pretty much, and I couldn't go into detail about the juicy parts of the story (Tapp, the bathroom, final twist, etc.). Is this the same way?

I know. It's so hard. With this movie, there's a big twist in the middle of the movie that completely changes everything that's happening. It even practically changes genres, and it completely goes in a different direction. The importance of different characters to the story changes really dramatically, so you can't even really talk about the actors without getting close to giving too much away. It also isn't something that I don't think most people that watch the movie are going to guess. If you ignore that it was a remake and everyone would know what was coming, I think it's almost comparable to Rob Zombie's Halloween in how it can pretty easily be split into two sections with mostly different casts, genres, and tones, but there's a twist separating the two parts. |
