Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

While video chatting one night, six high school friends receive a Skype message from a classmate who killed herself exactly one year ago. A first they think it's a prank, but when the girl starts revealing the friends' darkest secrets, they realize they are dealing with something out of this world, something that wants them dead. Told entirely from a young girl's computer desktop, CYBERNATURAL redefines 'found footage' for a new generation of teens.

I don't think it looks awful at all. It just seems like a fun-while-watching but immediately forgettable movie that won't harm the genre but won't help it either. I suppose I can live with that :P

I feel it's for the more, ahem, casual horror audience. Don't get me wrong, studio horror has some greats (most recently Conjuring and Insidious) but I feel it will be bad along the lines of Annabelle and Ouija (also recent)

Meh, I liked Annabelle. Ouija was dumb fun.

This might be like the latter I'm just not hopeful. Still seeing it though.

So how much money do you guys think this will make? :P

I'm expecting this to be this year's Ouija (doesn't look great, gets overpromoted, makes almost $100,000,000).

I'm thinking it'll have an around $12 million opening weekend in the US. Probably $40-45 million worldwide. Furious 7 is huge, and I don't think it will be able to compete.

I can't lie. If I was going to the movies this weekend, I probably would choose to see Furious 7.

I doubt I'll see Furious 7 in theaters but that does seem like a better film than this. (lol) I totally didn't think about that movie when guessing the final totals for this. Now I'm thinking it'll be somewhere closer to $70-$80,000,000 instead of around $100,000,000, maybe even less if other big things are coming out before this month ends.

The next weekend isn't too bad, because everyone is scared of the Avengers on May 1st. They spaced it out so that it'll run for four weeks at most theaters, because no one wanted to come out the week after Avengers, either. I think a lot of smaller theaters are probably going to have to drop it on the 15th, though.

Plan on seeing it Monday...if I hear it isn't terrible. Will not drag my friend to see a shit movie. Rather stay home and watch a classic.

So there's now a possibility that you won't see it in theaters at all?

I'll still see it, but totally not taking my friend who's going to be hanging over Monday to see it if I hear it's shit. XD

Ah, gotcha. I'm seeing it with Robby on either Tuesday or Wednesday. I might go see it with Sarah too the following weekend since she wanted to "see it to laugh at it" but that's only if I actually hear from her before then. (wary)

Moving this to 2010s.

And according to some articles, it made roughly $656,000 at midnight showings last night.

Don't worry. I give this my firm recommendation as, so far, one of the best horror movies of the year (behind only It Follows). Laura was an amazing villain, kind of like Regina George meets Freddy Krueger at times. And I loved the cast, especially the final girl Blaire, who turned out to be a lot more interesting than she looked at first (though I can't really say why). It's not jump-out-of-your-seat scary; it's more creepy, and feels almost like a psychological thriller at times, with Laura interrogating the main characters and getting them to spill all their dirty secrets. I wouldn't quite call it a true classic, but it was definitely something I haven't seen before, and used the gimmick of taking place on a computer screen to great effect.

My full review is here.

Yeah, that definitely surprises me. A couple of people on my friends list on Facebook saw it too and really liked it, which is pretty surprising, so now I'm not as worried about it. Now I'm actually looking forward to seeing it Tuesday/Wednesday. I'll read your full review soon. :)

Pfft! Go support Horror! ;)

Kidding.

I actually think watching this online would be pretty cool and, like The Den, beneficial to the effect of it. I'm still going to see it one or two times in theaters but I'll definitely watch it on my laptop after it's on DVD or Netflix or something just to see if it makes it more effective or something.
