Uninterested in a specific celebration, Holidays will span the calendar, aiming for a a “collection of subversive holiday tales” to “put a twisted spin on well-known and beloved holidays, including Christmas, Easter, Halloween, and Mother’s Day—to name a few.” Smith and McCarthy are on board, as are some truly exciting new talents, including Starry Eyes’ Kevin Kolsch & Dennis Widmyer, The Midnight Swim’s Sarah Adina Smith and The Dirties’ Matt Johnson. Gary Shore, Scott Stewart and Anthony Scott Burns round out the slate.

Gave this a rewatch with my boyfriend the other day and I finally finished it! Gonna give some thoughts on each.

Valentine's Day: Little confused as to why they decided to open the movie with Valentine's Day. It makes more sense to me to go with New Year's Eve here but with the one that they did for NYE, I can see why they chose this as the opener. I liked this one a lot. It has sort of a cheesy vibe to it (the ending mainly), you know, just like, surprise ending but it's shocking in an almost funny way. Little annoyed at the whole bullying situation at the beginning of this one. What teacher just stands there while an entire class berates another student? Never in my life have I seen something like that happen and I doubt it ever actually would.

St. Patrick's Day: This one was just plain weird. I liked how they went with something that isn't normally associated with St. Patrick's Day? Idk, maybe I'm out of the loop, but I've never seen or heard anything that associates snakes with St. Patrick's Day. So... cool concept, but almost too weird. Some stuff just felt unnecessary. Like the people in animal masks and the people dancing in the field. That just felt too try-hard "let's make this super weird" and didn't add much to the story for me, because I don't get what that was all about. Was it a cult of people trying to impregnate people with snake babies? Idgi.

Easter: Not great but not terrible. Upon first watching this, my reaction was like "ew what the heck" and upon my second watching (where I was watching in the dark) it was much creepier.

Mother's Day: I feel like this one is almost too similar to the St. Patrick's Day one. It had an interesting concept but the ending left something to be desired. One could guess and say that they would keep her there to give birth to babies so everyone there could have one, but then that ending makes you think she's giving birth to the anti-Christ or something.

Father's Day: My favorite of the bunch! This one was super eerie without the "let's try to make this as weird as possible" vibe I got from some of the other ones.

Halloween: Epic Meal Time! This one was a little *much* but I liked it.

Christmas: Cool concept but not one of my favorites. Don't really understand the ending. Granted, I wasn't really paying much attention during this one so that's probably why.

New Year's Eve: Another one that I wasn't paying a lot of attention to so I don't have much of an opinion on it. From what I remember, it was creepy and played on shock value of like, woah totally didn't see that coming, so that's cool.

All in all, the concept for this is really cool but I feel like there were two distinct vibes given off. One being the "let's see how strange we can make this" and the other being like, eerie with twists. I kind of wish they would've stuck with just one of those because then maybe this movie would've felt a little more cohesive.
