Puppet Wars I: Curse of the Puppet Master (1995)
Written by Jay Woelfel. I read the script for this one years ago. It may be my favorite as it stuck closer to Egyptian mythology, which I find quite fascinating. It's set after the events of PUPPET MASTER III: TOULON'S REVENGE. Set entirely on a train, Toulon and his puppets come across Nazi foes conducting rituals to raise Anubis, an Egyptian god. Our heroes' only ally is a mysterious man with a small group of little beasts called Homunculus, ordered to eliminate the evil enemy. He too carries a powerful secret.

Puppet Wars II: Blood Warriors (1996)
Written by Dave Parker, it picks up where CURSE left off, with Toulon and his puppets escaping the train, and going on the run from Nazis and supernatural forces.

Puppet Wars III: Dark Stalkers (1997)
Written by both Jay Woelfel and Dave Parker, the puppets take on the vampire Dracula and Nazi foes.

Much of this information was provided by co-writer Jay Woelfel (director of TRANCERS 6). It was intended to go into production after the fifth movie, but by then Paramount had cut ties with Full Moon, supposedly over money disputes.

Filming was intended to take place in Romania, and Jay was hoping Dave DeCoteau would direct the first film. Supposedly Jay also hoped Christopher Lee would play the part of Andre Toulon this time, but Guy Rolfe was intended to return.

Special effects were prepared for the film and new puppets built. Jay said the idea was that each installment would introduce a new puppet character. Second unit footage was even shot in Romania of all the train exteriors. But it seems there was never enough money to make one film, much less three. The train footage ended up being recycled in RETRO PUPPET MASTER when young Toulon is trying to save Elsa, but those ideas were not based on anything from these films.

The puppet Bombshell, which was prepped for these movies, did eventually appear in PUPPET MASTER X: AXIS RISING, as an Ilsa tribute with boob guns.

Script for PUPPET WARS III: DARK STALKERS. It has Dracula in it. And an extra special surprise involving the puppet Blade. Reminds me of a revelation in one of my own fan scripts, but these guys did a better job of it.
