Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

What are some Horror franchises that have been totally destroyed beyond repair by numerous bad entries?

I doubt COTC can be saved, it's long gone. I'll cross my fingers for Sleepaway Camp, but from how much of a bust Return was after a five year wait; I worry.

Eck, Cube definitely.

Amityville Horror, since there's so many bad sequels that I don't even think most people think of it as a franchise any more

Lol yes. I haven't even seen all of them even though there's two or three that I really like, which says a lot since usually if I like at least two of the movies, I'll watch the others as soon as possible.

It makes me really happy that one of the franchises have already come out with a good film (Wrong Turn) and another has an exciting film in the works (Hellraiser).

Poor Leprechaun. Was dead for 11 years only to finally come back and be killed again by another crappy entry.

Feast was ruined by Feast 2 and 3.

What's a franchise that went downhill and never managed to return to its former glory?

Silent Night, Deadly Night (we had to remake the original to get the franchise back on track, and even still we haven't had a sequel)
Cube (though can it really be said about this if the original was crap to begin with)
Howling (New Moon Rising was pretty pathetic, and I've heard good and bad things about the new one, Reborn, which I've been meaning to take a look at since the good stuff sounds right up my alley)
Do illiterate people get the full effect of alphabet soup?

Some people are like slinkies: not good for anything, but you can't help but laugh when one falls down the stairs.

Another one I just remembered:

Jaws (Jaws: The Revenge not only killed off the series back in the 80s but also relegated the entire genre of killer shark films to the Sci-Fi Channel where they don't belong)

Obligatory Hellraiser mention.

Friday the 13th. I don't think there's been a truly great Friday movie since The New Blood, and even that movie suffered under the MPAA's censorship. Freddy vs. Jason and the remake were both decent enough, but not enough to wash away the missed opportunity of Jason Takes Manhattan, the what-the-hell-were-they-thinking of Jason Goes to Hell, and the sheer cheese of Jason X.

I'm judging the series by what I read and heard about it. (And I forgot about having seen Freddy vs. Jason and the remake. Dunno how that happened.) James Rolfe (the Angry Video Game Nerd) reviewed all ten original Friday movies recently, so I got a bit of knowledge as to what the films I haven't seen are like.
