Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

Rated R for strong violence, disturbing images, and language throughout

A young British soldier is accidentally abandoned by his unit following a terrifying riot on the streets of Belfast in 1971. Unable to tell friend from foe, the raw recruit must survive the night alone and find his way to safety through a disorienting, alien and deadly landscape.
Do we have any Brits here? I'm American, so I found out about this pretty late (it only just came out in my area last week; it's why I'm listing it as a 2015 film), but between the subject matter and the recommendation of Mathew Buck (aka Film Brain), I really wanted to see it. And I'm glad I did, because this was the best war movie I've seen in a long time. Jack O'Connell was great and deserves all the praise he's been getting for this role, but if that were it, I wouldn't have enjoyed it nearly as much as I did. The action scenes were astounding (fun fact: the director of this also shot the excellent miniseries Dead Set), and the whole cast of characters felt well-rounded, like real people, good and bad, in the middle of a war. I can't recommend this highly enough.

My full review is here.

I found out about this two or three weeks ago (whenever it was when I saw What We Do In The Shadows at my local 'indie' theater). After seeing the underwhelming trailer for True Story, I was ready for the movie to start and then the trailer for THIS (followed by Ex Machina which looks great, lol) came on and I was pretty much like " (goo) " since it seems really good.

And no harm done, I consider it a 2015 film as well. *Shrug*

I might see this with my mom or something since she thinks it looks good too.
