Writer? Check. Sleep paralysis? Check. Visions? Check. Leaving the 'city' to go to an isolated place to sort shit out? Check. Secret/Mystery that is to be uncovered? Check. This sounds like it'll have a lot in common with like...ninety percent of films like this which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I might still watch it. |

I'm trying to stop not making threads for movies I don't want to see. Which means that I don't want to see this. |

This wasn't too bad. The main thing that I liked is that the script did a good job of planting little bits of foreshadowing throughout the film. The story was predictable, but I still appreciated them putting in little clues. It is pretty contrived, but there was enough interesting images and little story bits to keep me engaged. It isn't anything that I'd rush off to watch, but it was okay. |

I liked this a lot. Far from my top forty of 2015 but it's still worth seeing. I really loved Anna. She was ridiculously attractive, developed enough to be interesting, and had a little bit in common with me. Ambien and other meds, a writer, stressed out a lot, etc. And she browsed random ass articles like "5 Reasons LA Doesn't Actually Suck" which is something I find myself doing more often than I'd care to admit. I loved the music in this. It kind of faded away sometimes but in some scenes, it was very strong. I liked the garbage disposal scene here. It was better than a lot of other garbage disposal scenes that try too hard to fake the viewer out. The dog was SO cute and I love that he was actually used to fill in some of the story gaps. The 'ghost walking' scene about a quarter of the way into it was surprisingly creepy, as were a couple other scenes. There's some CGI here, it seems, but it's not BAD CGI and it's only *mildly* distracting. Paul was likeable sometimes and really annoying other times. I hated that he spouted off the usual doubtful "are you sure it wasn't a bad dream?" bullshit that co-leads always say to the leads. I kept internally yelling at Anna to quit taking those damned pills. For a while, I Spoiler: click to toggle Paul Spoiler: click to toggle The session did not end as I was expecting and I loved some of the minor surprises and reveal-timings. The explanation of everything at the end was really well done, the final chase was good, and I was surprised by the bits of violence scattered throughout. Definitely more violent than I thought it'd be. The ending was pretty satisfying. I listened to the end credits music three times once it was finished too. ![]() 6/10 quality, 6.5-7/10 entertainment. Trailer looked really good and creepy. It's a shame it showed the only good parts of the movie |
