I'm gonna need more here (as well as a name change since I'm on another horror forum with that same name) so I'll keep an eye on this one until then. |

I wasn't that interested in this based on the little bits of information that were available when I made the thread, but the couple of reviews I've seen have made me more interested in this. |

This was really much better than it had any right to be. It is massively unoriginal, and the script is full of terrible ideas. There's loads of stuff in the plot that I kept having to explain away. Spoiler: click to toggle At the same time, Liam Cunningham is constantly being creepy and there's gore all over the place, so it's a bit hard to concentrate on the stuff that isn't working. It's definitely going to end up being one of the goriest movies of the year. The budget had to have been pretty modest, but they put it to good use. The limited sets actually works in the movie's favor, because trapping the main characters in the police station helped build suspense. There's some not so great CGI near the end of the movie, but everything mostly looks very good. It could have used one or two spare characters to have things be a bit more believable. Spoiler: click to toggle There is some ridiculously corny dialogue spread throughout the movie. The writers seem to love cheesy one liners. I like Pollyanna McIntosh, but she doesn't fit her character until the second half of the movie. I thought the music was a bit too overbearing, as it tended to drown out the dialogue. The third act might not be the most logical conclusion to a movie, but it was way too big of an ending for me not to love it. Everything got even more super violent before getting set on fire, and Spoiler: click to toggle I wouldn't mind at all if this became a series. |

^The first hour or so reminded me a lot of The Traveler as I was watching it, even though I thought I had completely forgotten everything about that movie. It kind of gave me a Storm of the Century feeling, since the scale is a bit bigger than The Traveler. |

I'll definitely post my review tomorrow. I do wish it had a different title since Let Us Prey sounds more appropriate for a Horror movie about a religious cannibal family or something even with the strong religious elements in this. And Vanessa, I love your set. Is it bad that I thought that one guy who was shirtless with the shotgun at the end was damn fine during that whole sequence?

This was VERY satisfying. It wasn't as gory as i was expecting it to be but it was still really bloody and the last half hour or so was totally insane with some really awesome, bloody kills. Three of them in particularly were NASTY! This is almost like a better, meaner version of The Traveler and the story is better as well, even if some of the religious stuff was a bit heavy handed and overdone. That's a very small complaint though since it's still possible to be entertained by this and appreciate it even if you decide to ignore the religious aspects (though it's probably better to pay full attention to that so the ending isn't so confusing). I like to think that the ending meant that Spoiler: click to toggle I don't want any sequels or anything to go too deep into that because then it'd end up in religious-drama/fantasy territory which I wouldn't want. Most of the characters here were pretty scumbag-ish with my favorite villain characters being Mundie and Macready. Hurrah for a shirtless barbed-wired gay cop with a shotgun! YESSS! And Mundie was just deliciously evil, lol. I loved how snake-like she and that other cop guy were. They were a mean sort of couple that reminded me of the villain 'couple' in Hunger (2009). Loved it! Caesar was alright I guess but I didn't love him. Of course, every police station related Horror/Action film seems to require a character like him (and even films like Inside (2007) have them as well). Hume was gross and really creepy. Same goes for Beswick. Urgh! The main villain was very effective, taunted the others without being over the top about it, and was pretty sinister throughout the movie. I have to give them major props for Spoiler: click to toggle Characters (favorite to least favorite); Rachel > Six > Macready > Mundie > Caesar > Hume > that other cop guy who was fucking Mundie > Beswick Like I said, it's really satisfying, has a few great kills, has good pacing, and a pretty big bodycount (especially if you include the offscreen deaths and aftermaths). Definitely recommended. ![]() 6.5/10 quality, 8/10 entertainment. |

I really liked this one. Rachel and Six were freaking awesome and they had amazing chemistry together. I must say I didn't mind the religious stuff in this one. Usually I find it to be very annoying, like in Deliver Us From Evil. |

I liked this a lot. Another in the long line of classy British chillers. Reminded me a little bit of the French film Malefique, except with more action and gore. Liam Cunningham is as reliable as ever. |

This movie was quite similar to The Traveler, but it was a much better movie... Though, The Traveler was one of the most genuinely bad films I've ever seen, so it really doesn't take much for me to find a movie better than that. I found this movie to be enjoyable. It wasn't really all that creative. The plot's been done countless times before. None of the characters were even remotely likable save for Rachel, who Pollyanna McIntosh does a very good job playing, even if it's not at all her strongest performance. The only other character I found even mildly sympathetic was Caesar, but I think having everyone be terrible, cruel monsters was kind of the point. It was pretty obvious what was going to happen. It was pretty obvious from the start that Spoiler: click to toggle I was honestly surprised at how brutal some of the ideas were, and how cruel all of the main characters turned out to be. Spoiler: click to toggle So, even if the film is very derivative and wholly unoriginal, it still had some surprises that I was pretty happy about. I will say the film is cheesy in a very lovely way. Some of the dialogue is hammy as fuck, but I actually kind of like it. The biggest example is, at the end, when the film kicks into overdrive, Spoiler: click to toggle Overall, this was a decent movie. It's nothing too special, but it's an enjoyable enough film with some pretty graphic kills and just a few decent surprises. It's not a film I'll find myself rewatching any time soon, but I did quite enjoy it. Grade: B- |

This one here was quite the chilling and highly intriguing effort. What really tends to work for this one is the fact that it really manages to work in quite a rather intriguing atmosphere here with the way it works in the Biblical annotations into the main storyline. Despite the constant quotations that let on far more than what they're truly about, this makes for a rather intriguing set-up that ties the religious quotations into the reasoning for why he shows up here to go after them, which comes from this strong set-up here with how the tormenting carries out. Going for the psychological mind-warp that attacks their psyche that really brings everyone out of their element due to suddenly being forced upon their long-held secrets and really brings out the action in the final half where they really go overboard with the action in that setting. With the fantastic brawling and beating that occurs here as nearly everyone turns on each other forcing this into plenty of rough fighting, brutal tortures inflicted upon others and tons of stalking scenes throughout here with the big chasing by the deranged corrupted officer, the gunplay is quite fun and the whole setting taking place in the burning inferno of the station makes for a wholly enjoyable and over-the-top finish which is quite the big plus into film's positives. As well as the strong beginning tempo with the big convergences in them getting to the station and the great blood and gore, these here are more than enough to hold it up over the few minor negatives here. The main issue here is the fact that it takes so long to get it going that it's really hard to get into it due to that relaxed pacing. There's little here other than just going through the motions of him playing mind-games rather than anything else and it has rather lame tactics doing that which is quite troubling as it follows through on just nothing of any interest here due to not having any kind of importance attached to these scenes at that point in time yet is given a grand importance to them. This makes for a troubling time during the beginning in this section, and it's all that's really wrong here. |
