Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

During a sex, drugs, and rock-fueled party, six small-town teenagers find an old vintage record and decide to play it backwards in order to listen for any subliminal/satanic messages. Lo and behold, a seemingly malevolent spirit quickly infiltrates the group, wreaking havoc as it moves from one body to another. Eventually, however, it’s revealed that the spirit in question is actually trying to convey a message….and that the real source of horror isn’t particularly paranormal, but rather something (or someone) much closer to home.”

The title has changed from Backmask to Exeter. It was released in some countries a few days ago.

“When a group of teens party in an abandoned building with a dark history, they find an old vinyl record that unleashes a dark spirit when played backwards. But is there something even more horrific and terrifying in their midst?

The Asylum is a genre-busting evolution in teen horror bringing together the slasher, the supernatural and the urban myth.”

Night of the Demons + Evil Dead = awesome movie. Can't wait for this one.
Do illiterate people get the full effect of alphabet soup?

Some people are like slinkies: not good for anything, but you can't help but laugh when one falls down the stairs.

Wait, is this actually 'Exeter'? It has three different titles, and if so, then I'm pretty sure we have a thread for it.

Yeah it is. i cannot for the life of me understand why they would change it to such a bland generic title. One that is shared by countless other movies. All it does is to confuse the target audience

When I read the title, I thought it was the cheesy mockbuster film studio for a second. Then I read the plot description, and your comments about how they changed the title to this from something a bit more interesting, and I thought of this fake poster that I saw on Shock Till You Drop (attached to this article, for reference):

This just looks as generic as they come.

This wasn't bad. It kinda felt like Evil Dead at times, and a generic possession/haunting film at other times. It had some pretty funny dark humor, especially from the token stoner lol. It also has some awesome gory bits, so that was a plus. I cant say I loved it, and I probably wont watch it again for a long time, if ever, but I'm glad I did atleast once.

I think they must have thought that people in the UK would get it confused with Exeter the city.

I watched it last night too and this pretty much sums up my feelings about it. Plus at least it wasn't found footage. So that was refreshing

So that's two confirmed viewings then, shouldn't this be in the released section now? Or is that only for US audiences to get it moved? I'm still a little unclear about that ruling.

It's being moved now. Sometimes we forget to move things. *Shrug*

Review from Bloody-Disgusting is up. They gave it three skulls out of five and said that it's really dumb, with annoying characters, lots of cliches, and a tone and pacing that's all over the place, but that Nispel's direction and the lighter moments save it from being truly bad. Basically, a movie you watch with friends and beer.

We generally use US release dates, because it keeps us on the good side of the terms of use of the board's hosts, who are located in the US. The occasional exception isn't a big deal, but it's best not to make any kind of policy based on how many people have watched something.
