A title that's been done a thousand times over (okay, maybe not that much but I know there's enough out there to feel like it) and a plot that doesn't exactly wow me means this'll have to work extra hard to win me over and it's not looking likely for that to happen. |

I don't think this will be any good, but I could be wrong. This trailer though . . . not helping. Edited by MacReadyOrNot, Jun 9 2015, 11:14 PM.

It doesn't look awful but it doesn't look great either. I like Mark Duplass though so I'll probably still see this. |

Release bump Also, damn, when Blumhouse doesn't want anyone to know a movie exists, they really don't want any information out there. Here's the best that I can get for posters, and I'm not sure how long the first will work: ![]()

Apparently, some of the lack of information about this is from the title originally being Peachfuzz, which is a really unusual title. Here's a poster:

^ PeachFuzz is actually a BETTER title for this, surprisingly. I can see why they didn't go with it since, unless you watched the film, it just seems random and stupid sounding. I watched this with Robby two nights ago and for the most part, I loved it. I'm really not sure why they chose a pretty nice cabin as the setting since not much of the 'action' and craziness even occurs INSIDE of that cabin. There are quite a few dialogue scenes and a brief (and genuinely disturbing) 'attack though. One of the creepiest scenes involves a bathtub (also in the cabin) while the most disturbing part of the movie is near a door. The mask featured on the poster and in the trailer looks MUCH better in the film and it's actually pretty freaky in some shots. I can see why this didn't get a big release since the weirdness of it, the fact that it's a total slowburn for the most part, and the inclusion of MAJOR homosexual tones means that this probably wouldn't play well with big mainstream theatrical audiences. It would've been nice seeing this in theaters though, despite the fact that it's a very talky, mostly quiet film. The performances of the two leads are some of the best I've seen this year and I'm now convinced that I should probably seek out even more things Mark Duplass has been in since he is great as a creep. There's a lot of really awkward scenes that made me cringe. But that's not a bag thing AT ALL since I'm sure the whole movie was meant to make us feel a bit uncomfortable and weirded out by the characters' behavior. At one point, it seems like it was going to go in a different direction than expected by having Spoiler: click to toggle but I'm glad it didn't go the route of having Spoiler: click to toggle be the villain since that would have just been too random. The rape story, the very end, and the weird gifts also stood out to me and I loved the creepy, awkward diner scene and the trails/rock formations as well<3. Overall this was really solid. Some things aren't very well explained though. For example, Spoiler: click to toggle Other than that, I don't mind.Definitely give this a watch sometime. It's on Netflix now. 6/10 quality, 7.5/10 entertainment. |

I can't help but giggle a bit at the idea of someone complaining about the homosexual themes, because of everything else that happens in this movie. I'm sure the hypothetical person that started the imdb thread would be troll or someone that really wasn't paying attention, but I keep imagining this: Spoiler: click to toggle I loved this. I have watched it twice, and Mark Duplass was just as creepy the second time. I liked that it felt really intimate. It seems like the entire movie is just these two guys, who wrote and directed it too. It's really hard to watch a found footage movie and even attempt to suspend disbelief and think it's real, but this one managed to be extremely realistic without even really trying. Josef was creepy in a way that I thought was very realistic. He seemed like someone you might actually meet. He is the really creepy guy that you know and wouldn't be at all surprised if he shows up on the local news. He is constantly doing something creepy, but it didn't seem that unlikely that Aaron would bond with him. I liked the balance of humor and horror a lot. It managed to be funny and scary simultaneously. Even the stuff that only makes sense as parody or ended up completely unexplained actually added to the atmosphere by making the whole thing even more uncomfortable. I cannot get over it was baby murder. That monologue was amazing. |

This was a surprisingly dark, twisted, creepy movie. I liked how small and short it was. I liked how independent it felt. It was very small and intimate, seeing as it had only two characters unless you count the chick on the phone, who Spoiler: click to toggle The character of Aaron was kind of an idiot. It's like... It's so obvious something is rotten in Denmark with this guy. WHY are you still at his house?! WHY ARE YOU NOT CALLING THE POLICE?! HE'S STALKING YOU NOW! FUCKING DO SOMETHING, GOSH DANG IT! But regardless, he was a likable character. Mark Duplass was also gleefully creepy in the role, and I will likely be submitting him as best actor along with Jared Breeze from The Boy in the forum awards next month. I was surprised. He almost always plays the good guy, the leading man, the funny one... Never a dark, twisted killer. He was fantastic in the role, and I was genuinely unnerved by him. I'll likely have trouble seeing him in a normal, fun, typical Mark light again for a while. Spoiler: click to toggle I think I actually like the original title "Peachfuzz" a little more. It's kind of darkly humorous, kind of like this film. And it's a lot less conventional than Creep. Either way, this was an excellent film. I am glad I watched it. It was quick, creepy, unsettling, and unnerving. Altogether a great movie, and a huge change of pace for the lovable Mark Duplass. Grade: A- |

I think Blumhouse misjudged this one and should have come up with some special features to stick on the dvd release with the months they had after the VOD and Netflix releases. The amount of people pre-ordering it is really good for this kind of release. |

How do I . . . . . . write a review of this film without saying, "Fuck this film," all throughout? No idea, but I'll give it a go any way. I mean, I like Mark Duplass as a person and appreciate what he's doing with these mumblecore flicks, buuuuuuuuut . . . . write a goddamn script. Don't just improvise. Richard Linklater's Slacker was scripted, no? Jesus. I didn't care about any of the characters; though, to be fair, Mark Duplass does deliver one hell of a creep. This film was dull, boring, and had unnecessary jump scares that only hurt my eardrums and made me annoyed. Aaron is one of the dumbest fucking characters ever. I cannot believe he basically did nothing to protect himself. Sure. He called the police ONCE and got a second lock for a GLASS DOOR. Why are there going to be two more films after this one? If someone else directed this movie and fine tuned/expanded whatever script there was to it, then I guess I'd be fine with them making a trilogy; 'cause, frankly, Josef is a great horror character. Unpredictable. Unhinged. He just needs a better movie.

^ If you feel the whole "fuck this film" so much when it comes to Creep, I can't imagine how you feel about his slasher-parody flick Baghead! i like that you know the term mumblecore, though. That makes me kind of happy. :p I thought this film was genuinely unsettling and disturbing, though. |

Yeah, I wasn't too big of a fan of Baghead either. I did like Cyrus and Jeff Who Lives at Home though. And the one episode of Togetherness I watched I liked. My biggest problem with Creep, other than the improvised scenes, is that it felt more like a parody of found footage horror movies than a straight-up horror movie. I mean, the jump "scares" alone.

There's nothing wrong with improvisation, but when it comes to horror you need a great script to jump off from. |

I really liked this. It managed to really creep me out and make me laugh at the same time. DEAD @ Joseph running down the stairs and then blocking the door with that scary yet hilarious mask on. I totally thought I wasn't going to get into the movie, so I was pleasantly surprised that it held my attention all the way through. |

Watched it again earlier and I still really liked it. Josef is terrific. The lead guy was quite pathetic. I agree with what Paul said about him. He wasn't entirely unrealistic though. Honestly, most people wouldn't have their shit totally together when faced with a dangerous stalker. I know I didn't (not the first time anyway). |
