Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

Director Shawn Jones promises to turn the slasher sub-genre on its head with Camp Killer, which he evocatively describes as Friday the 13th: Part 6 meets My Dinner With Andre. And he’s just infused some slasher star-power into the film, casting Ari Lehman in a key role. JimmyO Burril will play the sheriff of a town plagued by an unstoppable killer (J Clinton Watkins). As they meet up one last time, a pair of survivors (one played by April Monique Burril) complicate matters for the worse. Who will be left standing and what will remain of their sanity?

I'm not a huge Ari fan but this sounds like it could be pretty good. And hurrah for the simple title, lol.

This is another one that's doing crowdfunding.

Sounds potentially promising but the throwback feel is starting to loose meaning for me.
Do illiterate people get the full effect of alphabet soup?

Some people are like slinkies: not good for anything, but you can't help but laugh when one falls down the stairs.

^I kind of agree. There's been a ton lately. I'm obviously not complaining, but the whole '80's throwback' thing doesn't get me excited as it used to. With that said, I'll still be seeing this.

Thanks all, I'm glad to be a part of the conversation in horror right now. I want to cover some of your fears about this flick. Originally when I wrote it in '97 it was my reaction to horror fatigue, and when I re-wrote it from scratch last year it was my reaction to retro fatigue. I've constructed this flick to lull in the viewer with familiar slasher trappings, then turn it on it's head. I guarantee this is like nothing you've ever seen, and a fun ride to boot. If Friday the 13th is Beavis & Butthead, think of this as Daria. Same DNA, different result. Thanks for checking out the project!

^ That kind of increased my interest in this. Have you changed a lot in the script to make it fit in 2015 instead of 1997 or will this be set in the late 90s or something?

They're aiming for $10,000 and have a little over $4,600 now.

Shawn, the ways people can appear in the movie as a reward for donating are a really great idea. Putting them in a montage seems like a great way to keep it seeming natural.

We made our goal in the last 30 minutes of the campaign, and start shooting in September!

I lost the link to the forum, and it just came back into my feed, so I apolozize for the radio silence. I have bookmarked it now, so I'll check in every so often.

The movie has evolved into something quite different than it's 1997 version, keepng the main themes but changing the story around entirely. While the '97 version was about a horror nut with amnesia going on a murder spree, this one deals with characters that have been at it for decades.

OOH! *Sigh of relief* Good. :) I was kind of worried we'd have to move this thread to the 'Purgatory' section or something.

No such luck :) I am happy to talk about it as long as others are happy to talk about it.

So should we be expecting a large bodycount from this? ;)

Depends on how you count it. 8 deaths of characters directly involved in the story, 20 or so photoshop kills during the credits, and about 6-10 flashback kills As the movie progresses.
