"Glass Eye Pix filmmaker Mickey Keating is prepping a new horror flick entitled Carnage Park, and right now we have the early details and sales artwork for you!

To be produced by Eric B. Fleischman and Sean Tabibian and their Diablo Entertainment, Keating tells Shock, “I want Carnage Park to be an unflinching, pulpy homage to the gritty crime films of the 1970’s, like Peckinpah’s The Getaway, Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia, and Campanile’s Hitch Hike and also survivalist films like Deliverance, Escape 2000, The Running Man, and of course The Most Dangerous Game.”

The film is “set in the late 1970s and tells the story of a bank heist gone awry,” Keating explains. “Two low-level crooks take a hostage and drive deep into the desert, where they end up in Carnage Park, an isolated stretch of land occupied by a psychotic ex-soldier who hunts people with a high powered sniper rifle. It’s set almost entirely over the course of one brutal day.”
The film is expected to shoot this summer."

As none of the films offered to sell this one are really horror films, and the killer's weapon of choice really takes the sting out of this one, no interest in this one.

I'm so used to hearing about this without it having a release date that I did a double take when I saw it at the top of a list of upcoming releases.

It'd be kinda interesting if the kidnappers were the heroes since that never happens, but I'm pretty confident they'll just be secondary antagonists who die with their victim living (maybe one will redeem him/herself and get a heroic sacrifice)

Puppy, just because there's no evidence she killed her aunt doesn't make her dating material.

Ashley Bell is really good so I think it's great that she will take of role of a instead of the victim that she played in The Last Exorcism films. It makes me eager to see her in a more strong role and she should be great as the heroine.

I did like Ashley Bell in The Day (though that was definitely Shawn Ashmore's movie), where she already had a strong role, so that's nice to hear at least. I just think writingwise that making one of the criminals the lead would be more interesting than some (presumably) fairly generic final girl/guy (apparently girl)

EDIT: Looked at the pics, are we sure Ashley Bell isn't one of the criminals? She's looking like one of them to me

I just saw an interview with Mickey Keating and am still shocked at how much his amount of success compared to his fellow indie horror peers like Joe Begos or Eric England.

I rented this off of Amazon and am glad I did so. I actually really liked it and thought it was a solid piece of work. The acting was really good, I thought the setting and atmosphere were good, the plot was engaging, and I git tense by the end. I will say that if you don't like films that are heavily influenced by other works, skirting heavily on just being a rip off, than this may just piss you off. But I don't care if something is a rip off as long as I still like the end product and man I did like this.

For some reason, I'm not all that interested in this. One thing that turned me off immediately, just from the trailer, came in the scene where the kidnapper first starts sniping at the woman. We hear the gunshot... and then, a second later, the bullet hits the sign behind her. Then a second gunshot, same thing. The sound of the gunshot outruns the bullet and travels at the speed of light. That's... not how sound works. It's something that should be obvious to anyone who's taken high school physics, and while it's a fairly minor goof, it is an obvious one.

Shame, 'cause I hear Ashley Bell gives a really good performance in this. I heard the same thing about one of Mickey Keating's other recent films, Darling, with Lauren Ashley Carter's performance. I haven't seen any of his films yet, but going by the reviews I've read of them, I can gather two things: a) his main talent is in directing and working with actors, and b) his films trend very much towards "style over substance".

I actually didn't catch the sniper bit but I don't care either way. I really liked how that scene played out with the way it was done.

After this I am just an even bigger fan of Keating. I am fully on the Keating train.

People can avoid movies without being overly picky. I don't think it's bad to be partially selective :P

Though I don't really care much about the gun error. I don't think I'd even notice. I care more about this being a ripoff, apparently. So I'll pass due to that (Speaking of, what's it ripoff @ Lasser?)

There's a lot of stuff that is borrowed from Wolf Creek, Reservoir Dogs (and some other Tarantino films) - stuff like that. Only one scene (and it was a VERY early scene) really felt like a flat out ripoff scene to me. And even then, it was done in a way that made it feel like the makers WANTED people to be like, "HA! Reservoir Dogs, much?", if that makes sense.

And I don't see the point in being overly selective when it comes to what you watch, lol. They're just movies, not relationships or people you sleep with after all.

Because I could be doing something better with 90 minutes of my life? :P Wasted time is still wasted time. Besides, overly selective to one person is reasonable to other. It would be like sitting through every Children of the Corn movie even though the bits and pieces I've seen sucked.
