Troubled by strange dreams, a novelist intrigued with a small-town house overlooking a strange marsh just outside hires a paranormal investigator who discovers that the house is being tormented by a special ghost and they race to free it.

What did everyone think of this one?

This was an incredibly fun and enjoyable haunted house film. The main plus to this one is that it decides on going full-on for its supernatural phenomena, which this one nails it fully. The ones in here are really great, being creepy and entertaining while being really fun scenes. The peephole is great, as the intense flashing through the glass on the door is really nice as it sets up some really good moments later on, including the confrontation with the ghosts in the room, which is all sorts of awesome. There's also the fun back-story haunting, which puts the events of the past into perspective while also making it entertaining and the ending is also great due to the great amount of flashbacks interjected along with the really superb paranormal action used. There's plenty of confrontation scenes that utilize the creepy ghost action, from the chase out into the swamp to the battle in the nursery that's all really fun and rather enjoyable. Along with the physical appearance of the ghosts, with the steel gray eyes really standing out when they suddenly appear out of nowhere from the darkness lending to a strong presence, the last one here is the really nice pace here since the hauntings come so frequently that it's never boring and really stays interesting throughout. This one here didn't have much wrong with it. The main flaw is that there's a really unique angle concerning the revelation of the back-story, deciding to start off as a rather nice haunted house film, then towards the end it throws the really hard to understand angle about a child's ghost and supernatural trauma which just comes from nowhere. It makes for some real headache- inducing moments as it tries to bring them to fit together, only to wind up being completely unnecessary to begin with since it's added on for no real point. This also has the clichéd tendency to turn a supposed friend into the real enemy to justify the twist, and it's real easy to see coming and is a clichéd one as well. These here are the film's only real flaws.

I'm fine with clichés and predictability, lol. This doesn't sound too bad. I like Forest Whitaker so I hope he has a decent role in this.

Yeah, he does. He doesn't show up until the halfway part but he does have a lot of screentime afterward including a great deal with the finale.
