Phase II follows the story of Samantha as she suffers from a mysterious and degenerative disease. Picking up directly where the previous film left off, Phase II follows Riley, one of the last people to come in contact with Samantha, as he scrambles to track down those responsible for the outbreak before the highly contagious disease not only consumes his body, but the world as we know it.

Never heard of part 1 so if this one sounds like it follows up on the events of that one quite closely, I'd like to see that one first before going into this.

Well, my to-watch list is about 20,000+ films so a lot of stuff gets lost in that shuffle. It's in there somewhere and I'll get to it eventually.

Lol, mine too. <_> I need to just hang up a giant sheet of paper on my wall with the complete list of things I still need to watch so I can finally stop forgetting about so many movies.

I have something similar, I have a notebook filled out with everything in alphabetical order of all these movies, as well as a word document containing the same information.

YAY! :D Hopefully this will end up on Netflix soon. The first is there so this one will probably be added too.

So this is another that I watched last night and while it was enjoyable and had some gnarly deaths and gross-out scenes, I'm not really sure if I like it more than the original.

I loved that this took place right where the first film ended (they even open it with the final scene of the first film, Halloween II style!) and that they continued counting the days as the outbreak started to get worse. The deaths here aren't anything too unique but we get some shootings, stabbings, and so on. Pretty standard stuff but the kills are mostly well executed and well timed. The body horror aspects aren't AS cringeworthy and disturbing as they were in the first but we get a handful of really funky scenes (with my favorite being a bathroom scene involving

which felt like the set up of a gross Saw trap or...something).

The characters here aren't as memorable or interesting as the characters in the first but I didn't hate anyone. I like that even though there's a male lead, almost all of the other characters are female. The relationship between two of the leads is also pretty sweet and I was surprised that they didn't focus on it too much. It would've been dumb if they had considering the fact that they didn't really have TIME to get to know eachother very well because of how quickly all of the 'bad things' were going on. I really loved the grandma. She was funny<3.

The reveal that

is one thing I didn't really care about. In my opinion, they probably should've left us in the dark with that.

I would definitely like a third (and preferably FINAL) film that shows the outbreak

I think they could pull it off well since by this point it's obvious that this is definitely a blossoming zombie outbreak 'series' and not just an 'isolated incident/body horror' story.

5.5/10 quality, 7/10 entertainment.

I was pretty disappointed by this. A lot of it hits the same exact notes as the first movie. I also don't think I particularly liked it once it started heading into different territory than the first movie. It had two mostly separate plots, and they didn't come together enough at the end. I wasn't particularly interested in the procedural stuff, and it got very silly at times. Riley's family and friends are pretty good. I didn't care for the actress that played the detective. Riley is also quite a bit dumber than Samantha despite having more information, and Samantha wasn't exactly a genius. The effects are still great and the main thing about it that I like, but there is less attention to detail in this movie. There are a few noticeable goofs that are disappointing.
