Funny story about this movie. I know this is me showing my hipsterdom, but I really did hear about it before anyone in my school had. I went to a small festival called like... Fear Fest or something, and I got to meet a few celebs. I THINK it was where I met Shawnee Smith and Missi Pyle, but I went to like three conventions that year, so I am probably wrong. Anyways, I found a little card about this movie and was immediately fascinated, like any teenager who finds out about a vagina teeth movie would be. I immediately went back to school and told everyone, expecting them to have the same response as me. But nope. I got called weird for it and what not. Cut to two months later, every fucking body is talking about the fucking movie. Great, funny flick. It's a great coming-of-age (Sorry, Jonathan) film for the whole family. |

Watched a panel with a group of feminist critics. I figured they would love this, but one of them claimed it was showing female sexuality as something negative, when it doesn't. it paints RAPE as a negative. Not consensual sex. Do these critics actually WATCH these movies?! |

^ Nope, just like how SJWs and extreme people in general don't bother actually listening to anyone else. It's the same sort of thing. "Oh Dukes Of Hazzard has the flag? BAN IT" say the people who probably never watched a single episode, pretty much. Same thing applies to this. |

Well, I mean. I can't see how people can misconstrue the message of this film. The whole point is it's a defense mechanism. It's terrifying at first, but then she realizes that it only bites when she wants it to or when she isn't enjoying herself sexually. That's a FEMINIST idea. It's basically her having the ability to PROTECT herself from harm. There is nothing anti-feminist about this movie. Nor is there anything anti-feminist about Ginger Snaps.

Source? Even if it isn't that good, I want more things that dig into this. As much as I like the movie, I think it doesn't embrace Dawn's perspective fully enough to be totally effective at delivering a message. The audience is too much of an observer. |

This one was quite possibly one of the worst horror efforts released. Among the many flaws here is the film’s rather challenging nature here, mainly because it's not a horror film and is instead a drama that includes a theme relevant to horror films and men in general. While the act present in the film is quite unnerving, the central premise of being unsure of what to do with it means that instead of pressing it to an advantage and being quite hesitant doesn't equate to an enjoyable time. Since this is coupled together with its intense religious dogma which presents her as a chaste virgin obsessed with the ideal of purity alongside her similarly-minded friends, this leaves the film so dreary, dull and lagging that nothing comes along to give the film any kind of momentum or energy not delving into any kind of action that really makes the condition something to be feared beyond the initial premise. Since each of the encounters come about due to almost raping her et at the point where it was consensual nothing happened and she openly enjoyed and welcomed it takes out so much of the steam here that it really undoes the argument completely by saying she needs to just let go of her standards and want it to happen to let it occur without incident. This kind of situation really could’ve had more of an impact happening to a more sexually-active woman and make it more of a truly cautionary take here than what this one offers as it seems to say they deserve it simply for going for a virgin who just happens to have that condition. There’s also the fact that this one doesn’t have any real point in being labeled as a comedy since the dark, black humor here supposedly comes from seeing more get castrated which results in the only real funny material here as there’s no jokes or humorous gags here yet nothing about any of these situations is in the slightest part funny and really lowers this one even further. While these issues hurt this one to the point of not even being a worthwhile horror film, the only positives here come from the graphic aftermath of each castration with the remains of each sniping shown in graphic, unflinching fashion with the spurting stump and disgraced unit all on full display here which leaves this one with rather squirm-inducing scenes in the water-fall and in the bedroom with her boyfriend, and the temptation of the sleazy step-brother closes that storyline nicely. Still, it’s more the concept of these scenes meaning the most and the flaws here really sticking out. |

When I was sixteen or seventeen, back around '88 or so, I was flipping through one of my cousin's skin mags and saw an add for a porno called "Her Thing Had Teeth." I'm convinced that's where the filmmakers behind this flick got the idea. Only thing is, I have never seen that movie and when reminded of it upon first hearing of this film, I looked all over the 'net and couldn't find a single thing on it. But I swear to God that it exists. I still remember the thumbnail still which accompanied the ad quite clearly. It was a a chick with light brunette hair, in a partial teddie, standing above a guy with a prosthetic maw/set of fangs over her crotch. The internet doesn't know everything. This film exists, dammit. Someone, somewhere, has it. |

I completely disagree with GL84. I think this film was very misunderstood. It's a dark comedy about a girl discovering what's inside her body. It's both terrifying and liberating, and the movie's basically a feminist allegory. It's also hilarious. The horror scenes and the sex scenes Spoiler: click to toggle are very humorous, even if they're incredibly disturbing. The whole film has a very sardonic wit about it, and I'm surprised people aren't still talking about it today, with how HUGE it was back in 2007/8.

Dark comedies are not appealing to me. 'Comedy' means laughter, which gives off a light, appealing air to something, the complete antithesis of 'Dark Comedy' which is so wrong and illogical to me that I'm completely baffled at that particular style. It just doesn't seem right to me for some reason. To me, comedy is 'Airplane' or 'The Naked Gun' though I'm willing to stretch it to something like 'Shanghai Noon' or 'Lake Placid' for a horror film. If it doesn't fall into that style, you're doing it wrong. |

Okay. So the idea of gallows humor perplexes you. Go read some Edward Gorey. loljk. But still. I don't think the word comedy always means "light." There are plenty of truly cruel movies that are hilarious. (Uh, hello, American Psycho, Very Bad Things, The Voices, Freeway, etc. to name a few.) |

Lol, this is odd. I've seen this movie come up in THREE lists this week out of nowhere. One was a 'best of the 2000s' list and another was '14 horror films for people who don't like horror movies' list. This was probably the least surprising to see on that second list (which featured It Follows, The Witch, The Babadook, and several other totally straightfaced Horror films). After all, I recall hearing eeeeveryone in my high school talking about this (and The Strangers) and most of those people thought I was "weird" for being a Horror fan.

Teeth is a fantastic dark comedy. It's definitely horror, but the humor in it is more dark comedy than it is HORROR-COMEDY... But it's a great flick. But I don't see how those films belong in a list for horror films for people who don't like horror... Unless I'm misreading what you're saying? |

That was a great list, but I disagree that they're for people who hate horror. They're for movie lovers, whether horror or all, who appreciate well-made cinema. Period. |
