![]() In February, “beautiful and haunted Joan makes a bloody and determined pilgrimage across a frozen landscape toward a prestigious all girls prep school where Rose and Kat find themselves stranded after their parents mysteriously fail to retrieve them for winter break. As Joan gets closer, terrifying visions begin plaguing Kat while Rose watches in horror as she becomes possessed by an unseen evil force.” Edited by Baby Firefly, Jan 8 2016, 12:49 AM.

Of freaking hell apparently Bloody Disgusting reports that it was pushed back until an undated 2017 release! I have been looking forward to it since it's premiere at TIFF! |

Well I finally did see it and really did love it. Thought it was a very sad and evil film that had great atmosphere and sense of total dread. And The Blackcoat's Daughter IS the perfect title for the film. I don't find February nearly as fitting. |

I liked it. It has a good ambiguous ending. The score is great. The pacing was good. The structure could have been annoying, but it revealed new information regularly enough to work for me. I think that Oz Perkins' movies would be a bit better if he let his cast do a bit of acting, though. They keep seeming incomplete. It's either some emotion or a strongly developed theme, and I think the acting is where I'd really like to see the change. His plots are ambitious enough that the writing isn't what stands out as the thing that isn't going quite right. |
