![]() Inspired by actual events, “#HORROR” centers on a group of 12-year-old girls who face a night of terror when the compulsive addiction of an online social media game turns a moment of a cyber bullying to a night of insanity. “#HORROR” examines a world of escalating cruelty and alienation through an online game where scoring likes comes at the cost of human lives. The cast has me interested, but I'm not so sure about the hashtag. Someone needs to remember tomorrow to see if the hashtag agrees with Zeta's search function, even though I have no idea what to do if it doesn't. |

I'm guessing this was heavily inspired by the 'Slenderman stabbing.' And no, the # symbol doesn't do anything. Instead, over 20 pages worth of threads with the word 'Horror' in the title showed up. Blah. |

I thought of something to put in the topic description. I hope it's the usual delay and not the symbol keeping it from showing up in the search. |

Sounds like a ripoff of Unfriended at first glance, though given that I liked Unfriended, that's not exactly a bad thing. Of course, putting the hashtag right in the title is also a major turn-off. |

I think it looks closer to The Sisterhood of Night than Unfriended. We're getting a lot of cyber bullying movies this year. |

I'm so far from the source of social media I have no idea what the hell any of this means. |

Do illiterate people get the full effect of alphabet soup? Some people are like slinkies: not good for anything, but you can't help but laugh when one falls down the stairs. My review blog: http://donshorrormovieblog.blogspot.com/ | |

This seems like it could be an incredibly relevant horror film. |

I saw the trailer, and to me, this looks kind of like what would happen if Sofia Coppola made a horror film. My interest is definitely piqued. |

It's getting a limited theatrical release. There are other character posters like the one in the first post. They're about identical, but I thought I'd mention it just in case someone was a huge fan of a member of the cast or anything like that. |

Trailer I didn't watch it, but I think the characters being only twelve might be interesting. |

Having seen this myself, Spoiler: click to toggle I saw this over the weekend, driving forty-five minutes to the University of Miami to find the theater showing it, and it actually wasn't bad. The best part by far was the style. The setting looked gorgeous, the score was amazing, and even the exaggerated social media game and the graphics that constantly came up weren't that annoying, and worked a lot better than they should have. The story didn't really do much for me, though, especially with its loathsome characters and muddled message about social media. Overall, it's not gonna displace Unfriended as the best horror movie about cyberbullying -- not by a long shot -- but it's still something, and definitely an interesting film. I can't wait to see Tara Subkoff's next film, though I hope she finds someone to go over her scripts. My full review is here. |

I'm watching this now and aside from the fact that I'm 53 minutes in and the bodycount is still criminally low (and I HATE pretty much all of the characters), I'm not really disliking this. |

Right away I noticed that while some of the acting was dodgy, it was really well shot and pretty. I actually kind of liked the wonky, phone 'game' stuff that kept popping up at first but then it got pretty old when they resorted to it every time anything happened. I see the point of doing that but it was still a tad annoying. The opening credits were pretty neat. Almost all of the characters in this were really unlikeable or flat out vile. Some of them grew on me though, and most of them had their funny moments. What was up with that hardboiled egg artwork on the wall? "Nothing is mean if you laugh and you laughed so that means it isn't mean. If you DIDN'T laugh, then you could say it's mean. " For the most part I liked a couple of the adults more than any of the bratty girls. I'm so glad I don't know many people (just one or two) who are as obsessed with selfies and shit as they were, ew. ![]() Cat's dad was a fucking douche. The masks were creepy and should've been featured more. Some of the bigger name actors in this are nothing but cameos so don't go in expecting to see familiar faces from start to finish. Sophia got slightly more tolerable as the film went on. I hated Cat. I liked most of the deaths once they started happening. They're not very graphic by normal slasher standards but one must remember that these are preteen girls being targeted. Of course we're probably not going to see guts spilling all over the place. It was an interesting touch having a news reporter reference the slenderman stabbing. I really, reeeeally hated the motive behind the killings. It's been done a million fucking times from 2010 onward and it gets less effective and more annoying every time. 5/10 quality, 6/10 entertainment. |

This was alright. I think it works better as your standard indie drama than a full blown slasher since that mainly only comes to play in the opening and the very end. Throughout the whole middle are all the girls and their (nauseating) interactions. I thought they weren't too bad except for Georgie and Cat. I hated them so much. |
