Learning of a great treachery against his daughter, a man and his wife race to the graveyard containing her before a deranged madman can win out in his quest for revenge.

What did everyone think of this one?
Do illiterate people get the full effect of alphabet soup?

Some people are like slinkies: not good for anything, but you can't help but laugh when one falls down the stairs.

An exceptionally flawed and not really all that worthwhile William Castle gimmick effort, only this time the gimmick isn't that great and the movie's little better. The central premise to this one is quite chilling, with the abduction of the daughter and being buried in a grave that requires a man and wife to find her, means we get some incredibly wonderful Gothic atmosphere with the scenes in the cemetery that are quite creepy in design and chilling in how the story's built up. These scenes here and their bantering about where she is and where to dig are really the only parts of this that's worthwhile, as the rest of the time it doesn't have a whole lot to really get interested in. As it goes around with all the potential suspects and why they're interested in seeking revenge, the flashback nature of these participants and why they're out for revenge is not in the slightest bit interesting and drags the movie to a halt as it goes about this section of the movie, dropping all potential horror angles and does so for the majority of the film's running time. Even more so, the fact that the central premise doesn't allow for a lot of time dealing with the graveyard search forces this upon the viewer, a rather unfortunate handicap right off the top. It's got its moments, but not a whole lot of them.

I liked it well enough, like you said not Castle's best, but I still quite enjoyed it. The gimmick isn't quite as over the top as his later films, nor does it attempt to be quite as shocking or terrifying. It's almost like a gothic "whodunnit". A good start to a fantastic Career of Evil.

Yeah, this one really wasn't all that great if indeed slightly watchable, but that's about it.

I'm still really excited to finally watch this, flawed as it may be.

I actually really liked the gimmick even if it is one of the 'worst' of Castle's. I just finished this a little while ago and I enjoyed it. At 72 minutes, it didn't outstay its welcome or slow down too much. Things moved pretty quickly and it seems like if there were any scenes that weren't needed, they cut most of them out.

The flashbacks could've been handled better. I was confused when the first one started but then I got used to it and the rest of them. I liked that they included those even though we didn't NEED those flashbacks, I guess. I loved Nancy to death though. She got some of the best lines, with my favorites being;

"Would you like to hear me say something in Italian, Spanish, German...or do you prefer French, Jimbo?"
"Did you meet anyone interesting over there?"
"Only men! ^_^"

and;

"Why should I get married? All men seem alike in the dark!"

They went on about her blindness a little too much but it didn't really bother me.

I wished that we had heard the entire phone call at the beginning and that bothered me for a while but they ended up revealing it and I'm glad they didn't 'let us' hear both sides of the call after all since (duh) it would've spoiled the ending. And that's a huge no-no for this film, apparently.

I liked most of the characters but at the same time, I disliked the majority of them as well, if that makes sense. Of course, that was intentional and it's actually one of my favorite things about this. There aren't too many big shocks and like Theli said, it's more of a dark whodunit than a full on Horror film (which is, again, totally fine with me). I still see it as Horror though. More people died than I was expecting but the deaths aren't anything spectacular, which is not surprising or really all that disappointing. I liked the reveals at the end and the end credits were AWESOME<3.

5.5-6/10 quality, 7/10 entertainment.
