I really don't know why I haven't watched this yet. It's been on my to-watch list for like six years now. I might go ahead and watch it once I'm finished going through the five or six 1930s-1950s Universal mummy movies.

This may be a mummy flick but it belongs in the zombie category. The mummies look like zombies, act like zombies, attack like zombies. It's basically a Fulci-like zombie flick in everything but name, only not as polished. It's not awful but I wouldn't rate it as any better than your average Italian splatter flick, either.

What on earth are fashion models doing exploring tombs in the middle of an Egyptian desert?

This sounds pretty campy, though. I imagine it's certainly not boring

Puppy, just because there's no evidence she killed her aunt doesn't make her dating material.

Maybe they're on a photo shoot? And you should watch this instead John, and tell me how it is, since we have similar taste.

This was bad, this was really, really bad, it made me wanna cry, it made me wanna KILL MYSELF!

Kidding, this was really enjoyable (but still really bad, lol). It opened with a made-for-TV looking scene that took place in 3000 BC and featured characters speaking in English in the middle of Egypt. I loved how over-the-top the acting was (especially from Xena, who was crazy, looked creepy as Hell, and was effective but didn't get much to do, sadly).

"He will rise and KILL!" The opening titles started at such a random point. The head sticking out of the sand - yikes! Rick the tomb robber was really hot but was incredibly annoying (same goes for the other robbers). The models/photographers were better but were still not great. Gary had an unbearable laugh. Jenny was really annoying. The black chick and Lisa were probably my two faves. Melinda was forgettable.

This had a good score, some nice locations, and a couple of surprisingly good scenes (I loved Melinda's chase, the huge attack at the end, and the scene of the mummy-zombies rising out of the sand). There were multiple dialogue scenes that were quirky but killed the pacing and brought things to a screeching halt. With a movie like this, it's probably not wise to have characters randomly shooting the shit in the last twelve minutes. The cleaver to the head was great despite one very fake looking shot. The death order was satisfying and I was really happy that

Bad but really fun.

4.5/10 quality, 7/10 entertainment.

May need to watch this again. I know I saw it once before, but the only thing I can remember is that actor George Peck was also in CURSE OF THE PUPPET MASTER.
