Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

Hollywood Insider just announced tonight that Wes Craven passed away from brain cancer, and I have no idea how to process things right now.

We lost Betsy Palmer in May. Christopher Lee last month. Now tonight, we lost Wes. This is so upsetting, and I have no idea how to process my emotions right now. This is just so shocking, because I never thought I'd say goodbye to him this early or what took him.

This is such a shock. He was still working so much. I never would have thought he was sick.

THR's obituary is terrible, and they should feel bad.

I got most of my information from my mom who ran into my room with the news. She is really sad about it too.

I'm beyond devastated, since I feel that Wes was the person who really got me into horror movies (with Scream 2 being one of my earliest memories). I just...I have no words. I want to have a tribute night to him to celebrate his memory, but there's so much stuff going on here that I physically can't. I want to so badly that I could cry, but I can't. Fuck my life.

I grew up on the Scream and Nightmare on Elm Street films. He always struck me as being a pretty nice, cool guy. It's sad when anybody dies, but at least he got to live a long and very full life. Never even knew he was sick.

I'm gutted. Wes Craven had as much to do with making me a horror fan as anyone. I cant imagine a world without him. RIP you great man.

This might sound weird but I sort of like to think that he didn't want his fans to know just how bad things erected so we wouldn't all be worried for a long time.

I'm really glad there's been such a huge outpouring of emotions from fans and that he isn't being overlooked or something. I'm probably going to be watching some of his movies in the next few days instead of in October like I was planning.

I follow him on Twitter and had absolutely no inkling whatsoever. I guess that's the kind of man he was. Never about him. His final ever tweet was praising the talents of Michonne from Walking Dead and her new play.

I hardly get shocked when a celebrity dies but sometimes it really hits you(like Phillip Seymour Hoffman) and this one definitely hit me (cry)

My thoughts exactly:

The Oscars better give a huge tribute to Wes Craven this year, starting with a speech from Robert Englund.

RIP Good Sir

I was going through the horror tags on tumblr, and many people he's worked with are sending their thoughts out.

RIP Wes.
Do illiterate people get the full effect of alphabet soup?

Some people are like slinkies: not good for anything, but you can't help but laugh when one falls down the stairs.

I found this out at work and I was so sad! He was my favorite horror director. I'm going to have a Craven marathon tonight probably.
