It's Halloween eve on Shelter Island, and the small town is preparing for a killer storm. But the dark clouds gathering over the island are bringing with them a curse one-hundred years in waiting. As the woods give birth to an ungodly and insatiable creature of fire, bones, and earth, three sisters must scramble to stay alive through the long dark night of the Hollow. For it's not something you can kill. It's only something you can try and survive.

So they're using the title of a headless horseman slasher to tell a 'Fog' rip-off? Beyond that piece, this one definitely has me interested. Hopefully that creature actually comes to pass itself off just like the description does.

I'll probably watch this one just because I'm a sucker for most things Halloween related.

We already have a thread for this: http://w11.zetaboards.com/All_Things_Horror/topic/11213669/1/#new

Do you mind if I take the lazy route and delete this one instead of bumping up the other one to merge them?

This little ditty was filmed in town earlier this year. Was driving around one night and heard someone screaming, we drove past the noise, thinking we were going to have to jump out and rescue someone and it was just them filming a a scene.

No problem. I just merged the threads since you made the original thread a bit easier to find. The search feature works sometimes but I guess it depends on what mood it is in. (lol) Once I searched 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' just to see what would come up and it only gave me like 1/3rd of the threads we actually have.

Haha, that's actually kind of cool. Scary at the moment, probably. But still kind of cool.

I'm very fortunate to live in an area where movies and films are being produced constantly. When they were making this movie, my BFF went to the post office and almost tripped over something that she thought looked like a zombie. I'll be interested to see what it was if it didn't end up on the cutting room floor.

This here was quite the impressive and highly enjoyable effort. What really sets this one going is the strong atmosphere found throughout here, which is based quite highly on the setting here. Utilizing the deserted, isolated island setting the best, possible resource here of the utterly impenetrable wall of trees creating a spooky feeling here even before the oncoming storm hits, while the slow-building mystery here with the blank island and continual stranded nature here create an eerie setting here for which the insertion of the creature makes for a great time here. The appearance and powers of the creature are quite nice as the body being composed of tree roots and moss conjoined with supernatural fire bleeding through its eyes and mouth as well as the means of which it appears to teleport itself around to kill its victims which makes for a wholly impressive creature. These here give this a strong boost to the film by then making the action here incredibly fun and exciting, as the opening attack in the forest starts this off nicely, the house attack is outstanding with the arguing distraction letting the crashing body through the front door and the root-fingers grabbing readily delivering stolid shocks and the big confrontation in the deserted town is highly spectacular. The mangled, bloody bodies left laying in the street, the eerie quite and the encounters within here from the shopping mart and the alleyway from the diner against the creature are so much fun here that they keep this going along so well with the fellow survivors getting involved that there's plenty to fully enjoy here. The battle at the sheriffs' station manages to get some really great times as well as it stalks them through the deserted station and readily makes for some decent scares along with the fun kills. The finale, which is so much fun in the forest battles throughout here that range from the absolutely spectacular search here for their missing sister stuck in the sacrificial lair where they rescue the other abducted victim, the attempts to hide in the forest are fine and there's a logical lead-in to the fantastic stalking in the corridors of the power plant where there's a large number of high-end suspense scenes here that really make for quite the chilling time here getting in the fire action of it chasing them around in such a creepy location. These here give this one quite the utterly impressive effort here than it manages to overcome the few minor flaws on display. The one main one here, which shouldn't be much of a surprise here as the CGI for the creature doesn't come close to realistic or believable, as this one doesn't really offer any surprises here. the only other weird part here is the decision here to waste the time searching for the daughter in the woods at the beginning, as the extensive amount of time here is in direct violation of hat was told to them by the ferry driver that halts the whole scene, truly making it seem curious over the inclusion here when other scenes set up her story better. Otherwise, this one was highly enjoyable.

About a third of the way through this and it's not bad. WAY too many random forced jumpscares packed together. There were literally five in a sixty second period at one point.

I like that the guy who played the sheriff in Freddy Vs Jason was randomly in this. I probably should've watched this last October since it was a Halloween themed movie (though they don't really do much with the holiday and it could've taken place on any other day, really). I was scared for the dog during the opening scene. (wary) The family bickering wasn't as annoying as I thought it would be when it first started but a lot of it still felt unnecessary.

I feel bad for saying this but Richard Harmon is starting to become rather unattractive (his hair in this...ew) and his performances are getting really repetitive. He played the same character he played in like four other things I've seen him star in over the last two or three years. The guy who played Alex was much better looking here. It took a little too long for thins to get going but once things started, it barely let up.

I want to make a drinking game for this movie. Drink whenever one of the three sisters screams "what was that", "there's nowhere to go", "we have to save Emma", "she's still out there", "we need to go now" or whenever Emma wanders off because her dumb self randomly blames herself for a bloody MONSTER attacking everyone. Give me a break. I was glad when a handful of others were thrown into the mix shortly before the 40 minute mark but

The long haired guy was so annoying and he spent his screentime with his mouth hanging open, looking like a dullard. I liked Alex and Nicole though. I didn't care for the ending. Emma kept pissing me off. The effects were really good for a Syfy original movie.

4.5/10 quality, 5.5/10 entertainment.

Blasphemy! You called my husband unattractive.

I shall kill you now.

Nah. It sucks that this film was disappointing to you. I still want to see it, but I normally trust your judgment and share similar opinions (normally, that is :P We've had major disagreements before), so I guess my expectations have been lowered.

Yeah, it's not all that great. It's just good for a SyFy movie. I was really happy that the effects weren't bad. If I didn't know it was a SyFy movie before watching it, I would've just assumed it was a random direct-to-DVD movie.

And here's what he looks like in this;

Compare that to how he looked in The Killing, Judas Kiss, and a couple other things and you might see what I mean. The long haired guy annoyed me more with his appearance though. Even in those two screencaps, he's keeping his mouth partially open and it's like that the whole time he's onscreen.

Okay, yeah. I mean, I still love him and want to have many, many, many cat children with him, but... That hairdo's pretty bad. He looks like Crispin Glover or something.

Watched this last night. It was pretty meh. It wasn't bad or terrible, but it wasn't all that good, either. I mostly only watched it because Richard Harmon was in it, and his character was pretty pointless, as were most of the characters who weren't the three sisters in the movie.

It was obvious that this was a made for SyFy movie, from the commercial breaks, to the cheesy CGI effects, to the acting, to the dialogue, etc. I was entertained by it, but it's likely not going to be one of those films I revisit ever unless I need something to fall asleep to.

The acting wasn't TERRIBLE, but it certainly wasn't going to win any of the actors any awards. As much as I am in love with Richard Harmon, he was pretty useless here. That wasn't his fault, obviously, but the character was poorly written and worthless, much like all of the characters. There was no reason reason to care for anyone who wasn't the three sisters. And as beautiful as I think he is, the hairstyle he had here didn't exactly suit him, but I'd still marry him even with that hair.

The three sisters were likable. Like I said, they were easy to root for, even if the actresses didn't really do that amazing of a job with the more dramatic scenes.

The CGI was pretty bad, but I could forgive that. Bad CGI in made-for-TV SyFy movies doesn't really bother me. It worked for how cheesy the film really is.

Overall, I enjoyed it enough, but it wasn't anything all that good.

5/10
