Diagnosed with dementia, war veteran George Lockhart (Jones) must deal with his estranged family. Son Jerry (Cilella) and granddaughter Shelby (Harrison) force him to hire a live-in nurse (Klebe). Only to find she harbors a sinister secret.

I did not realize from the old one that Gene Jones (Father from The Sacrament) was in this.

I loved the ending of this movie. The movie has a moral complexity that I really enjoyed and was not expecting. Gene Jones is amazing. He's even better than he was in The Sacrament. The entire cast is rather good. I'm looking forward to seeing the actress that plays Shelby in more things. She's also in Southbound, and I'm hoping that she'll become a minor horror regular after this. The score is also really great, even if it does get a bit too loud towards the end.

The one thing that really disappointed me is that there were a lot of points that the plot was just too convenient. I love Kristina Klebe's acting, but the character is not written well. She has some very creepy moments, but a lot of the stuff with her is just too obvious and conventional.

This was SO fucking good! I regret not watching it sooner because I know I would've submitted it for at least five or six more Best Of threads. I'm glad it's in a couple though!

"If he comes at you again, aim for a sensitive spot - like his nuts or eyeball!"

I liked George a lot even though he wasn't exactly a good person (it was clear that he WANTED to put the past behind him and be good though) but I think the two main reasons I liked him: I LOVE Gene Jones and I've yet to see him give a poor performance and I always have a soft spot for 'defenseless' old people in Horror movies, lol. Richard Reihle being in this was a nice surprise and it took me about twenty minutes before I realized that Michelle was played by Kristina Klebe. She looks way different than she did nine years ago - and her acting is a lot better now too!

Some of George's visions - the biting! - were kind of disturbing but I am glad they weren't overdone. Jerry wasn't exactly a good person either but I could understand why he was the way he was and the fact that he didn't really know how to deal with George was very realistic. "Sit the FUCK down!" is still probably not the best thing to yell at an old war vet with dementia though. Jerry was attractive.
Shelby's actress reminded me of Emilie De Ravin in the mid 2000s, haha. Some of the music in this was fantastic and George telling Michelle about the man biting through his wrists was definitely one of my favorite scenes, though the movie actually got better as it went on.

than I expected. Michelle's rhyme during that burial was a nice 'the fuck?' moment. I loved the flashbacks and how it was not SUPER obvious until about 45 minutes into it that

At around the seventy minute mark, I had a big "OHHH!" lightbulb moment. Larry was hilarious.

The last fifteen minutes were pretty much perfect, minus one thirty second bit where the music totally drowned out what I'm assuming was an important bit of dialogue. This ended on a much darker note than I thought it would and actually left me feeling kind of...meh. (wary)

6.5/10 quality, 8/10 entertainment.

This sounds pretty great. And having Father from The Sacrament in it is definitely a plus.

Robby really loved this<3.

It's definitely a film that benefits from rewatches. I picked up on a few small details that I didn't notice the first time around. Stuff with the necklace, the placement of the gun, some bits of foreshadowing, and so on. I liked it even more this time.
