I was only making a comparison based on them having release dates that are close together and both getting a lot of press for their artistic style. I don't see how those differences that you pointed out would effect the number of artists that are drawn to create promotional materials for the movie, which was the first time Darling came up. |

I don't think their release dates are close at all and don't think having stylish posters (that are extremely different and on the opposites side of the spectrum) creates room for any comparisons in anyway. |

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you might not be into following the semi-official artwork that is released for movies. I totally am not saying that the posters are the same. The earlier conversation was about expecting certain artists to be drawn towards making something for this movie that made something for Darling. The release dates are close enough that we should already be seeing that stuff. |

I totally ruined the film by constantly rewatching all the trailers and reading reviews and yet I'm still crazy excited. It'll basically be an incredibly gorgeous, but life-less drama about bored, beautiful models for the first 2/3rds before becoming an over the top full on horror in its 3rd act. And yet that sounds like a fantastic time for me. Though reception was incredibly mixed from the Cannes film festival and in general it's been mixed. Part of me thinks I'll hate it in the first viewing. |

Only two more weeks<3. It's plastered all over IMDB and I'm happy about that. Also, it's been a while since I've seen a thread on here for a movie that had so many gorgeous posters in a row. Usually there's a couple of duds by now. |

I am ecstatic that this is playing at my local theater. It looks absolutely gorgeous and I looks like a spectacle I would want to see on the big screen. |

My mom saw the trailer and said this looks great. Too bad it's not playing near us. I think the closest theater that has it is 45-75 minutes away. I'll cling to the hope that the Treehouse theater (that got The Babadook, It Follows, Goodnight Mommy, etc) gets it.

This is playing near me, so I'm probably gonna see it this weekend. If it's half as fucked-up as it sounds, I'm probably gonna love it. |

It's a very very cold film, and is very very mean spirited. The acting is cold but good, and I felt that Abbey Lee was great and the standout as Sara. The visual storytelling is very strong here, with key moments for the characters being told strictly through the images. |

Can't say I'm surprised. Seems Horror fans are the only ones who know it even exists. I haven't seen any TV spots, any sponsored advertisements, nothing... I've seen quite a bit of stuff on Facebook but that's only because I follow the Neon Demon page on their and they post quite often. I'm not surprised it's made so little. |

To be fair, it's also not really a movie that was made for a mass audience. It could've used a better advertising campaign, true, but even then, this most likely would've been a minor cult hit like It Follows or The Witch. The love-it-or-hate-it reception it received at Cannes probably didn't help it. I saw this last night, and it took me most of today to process just what the hell I witnessed. I will say this, though: it's an absolutely gorgeous film to watch, and the acting was incredible. Lasser cited Abbey Lee as the best actress in the cast, and while I'd cite Elle Fanning and Bella Heathcote, they were all incredible. And once I sat down and started to think about the film, and put together all the symbolism, I found myself liking it more by the minute. My full review is here. |

I actually did see Posters and billboards in Paris, even on their main shopping strip... but I assumed it was a strip show or something (they featured a fairly scantily clad Elle Fanning, so). I was surprised to see a thread here. I'll probably watch this online after its released Edited by Repo, Jul 1 2016, 01:15 AM.

I honestly thought it would perform way better. It got a solid release in the states and I did get caught up with all the online attention it received at Cannes thinking more people were talking about than they actually were. |

I actually saw a lot of them the week or so before it came out. I think they messed targeting their advertisements up, though. I was mostly seeing them places with a big audience of young women, who went to see The Shallows instead. They needed to move to a different weekend once The Shallows moved. |

Yeah The Shallows really took the female audience, especially since this is Nicholas Winding Refn's attempt to make a film for teenage girls! |
