Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

So, ever since I was a kid I've written and drawn my own comic books, so I thought I'd share some various superhero & supervillain drawings. I'll start with just a few originals characters -- just the ones I have scanned on my PC right now. I'll post more as I get them scanned.

This is Boo, a maniacal axe murderer from a vigilante comic I wrote called The Widower:

This is Firecracker, the first female superhero I ever created (way back when I was eight or so). I've updated her several times over the years, this being the most recent version:

Next up is Pumpkin Jack, my "master sorcerer." Imagine Dr. Strange but with a mean streak. For fun, he abducted and keeps as his housekeeper the devil's son Belial, whom he enjoys humiliating and poking fun at (with this pic and the next, pardon the flat MS Paint job - I'm a penciler and inker, not a colorist)::

And lastly, here's just a random vampire chick I drew:

Holy shit, those are really good. O_O I want to see more, haha. My favorite (so far) is probably Firecracker though I really like the others. And the 'random vampire chick' has really great looking eyes. I like how they look like they're being hit with light that causes a certain 'shine', if that makes sense.

Thank you both. More to come as I go back through my sketchpads (I only have, like, a thousand of them going back twenty + years lol).

Here's a Green Goblin I did last year (I believe, maybe year before). Breakdown, then penciled, then inked:

Impressive work! I love Boo. The noose, the hood…it's a great, effective and simple design.

Begs many questions though. Any chance we see that vigilante comic?

Good stuff, Lon. Thanks for the share.

Oh, no, that comic's long gone, dude. I wish I still had it, but I wrote/drew that one back in '94. I moved to Canada in '00 and had all my stuff in storage back here in the states, with a promise from my family that they'd look after it until I could send for it. I hadn't been gone two months when I got a call, "Oops, we forgot to pay your storage the last couple months, all your stuff's gone." That comic, along with a ton of others I wrote and drew myself, are gone forever.

My family, ladies and gentlemen.

The only art work I still have from that period of my life are the numerous sketchpads I referred to above (and a few other personal items I took to Canada with me). But I don't have any of the individual comics anymore. And I've yet to attempt to recreate any of them because, well, it would take years. Which is why these days, I mostly just do character portraits and sketches like the ones above. Although, year before last I did find an old journal of mine that I'd apparently forgotten to put in storage and one of my sisters had been holding onto, filled with data on all the comic characters I'd created over the years (somewhere around 170 or so), so I guess not ALL was lost lol

Oh, and speaking of Boo, UTM member Huds (another buddy from my old site who followed me over) took that picture and did an awesome digital paint job on it:

Fuggin...family. That's shitty, man.

Wicked! Great work by HUDS taking something great and actually improving on it.

This shit need to be in a frame on my wall...and it's not just because of Boo's obviously supple thighs.

That Green Goblin one is sweet, must be a year or less because I don't remember it from your old thread. Your linework and poses are as powerful as ever man. Thanks for the cred, I still hold my promise to do Pumpkin Jack sometime... soonish... (wary)

I was thinking I'd do another Pumpkin Jack. In the image above his arms are out of proportion and my flat paint job doesn't really do him justice. Besides, knowing what you can do with a paint program, I'd like to give you something more interesting to color than just a static pose. Maybe show him versus an opponent using magic, let you go crazy with it.

Hey man! Good to see you. Long time, no see. How are things? How's the weather? Staying warm? And other such banalities.
