So this had a guy with a really nice sounding accent but he was only in one or two scenes so I was disappointed. I found it both amusing and sad that there were so many people in that one little cabin at the beginning. The costume design was mostly great in this though some of the hairstyles didn't appear to match the time period very well. The characters also weren't speaking as the characters in films like The Witch spoke but they were convincing enough and I could tell that the makers put an effort into making it fit the period so all is well there. I really loved the film's set up and structure despite the fact that it was occasionally slow. Some of the music was pretty unique. I liked it. The Spoiler: click to toggle and there were some POV shots of the group being watched that were mildly unsettling. I kept wishing that this had been a basic slasher that happened to be set in the 1700s but instead, it was more bizarre and not as straight forward. I laughed at one character wanting to convert the Shawnees. There's A LOT of narration in this film but I really didn't mind. The face in the tree was disturbing and there were some pretty crazy things that happened in this that I liked. Monstrous things, explosions, disappearing people, lots of fog and smoke, witchy stuff, evil kids...and not a whole lot made perfect sense in the end. Still, it's a pretty decent movie that's worth seeing at least once. It's on YouTube.6/10 quality, 6.5/10 entertainment. |
