The film recounts a series of terrifying events experienced by three Wisconsin college students, played by Smith, Bonas and Laviscount. Trucco plays the brother of one the students, whose mind has been invaded by the unstoppable Bye Bye Man (Jones). |

Sounds slightly intriguing (and apparently Carrie Anne Moss is in it!) but I really, really don't like Lucien Laviscount from what I've seen of him so far.

I really like the title of it. It makes me think of a name a child might give their ghostly, murderious imaginary friend. |

I think I might like Doug Jones enough that him playing the title character makes me automatically be planning on watching this. |

They've changed their minds about that release date. It's a little up in the air now. I've seen both June and December. |

The release date was moved up to June 3rd, but was pushed back to December 9th. December 9th is its current release date. |

I kind of like that poster even if it does make me think of Mr. Hush and a bunch of direct-to-DVD movies from the mid 2000s. Boo. I was hoping the release would still be October 14th. More movies need to come out on my birthday. |

It was pushed back to January 13th 2017. Like I really don't get it at first it seemed like they were really confident in it by moving it from October to June and now its like they are scared to release it by pushing it back so much. They should have just released it October 7th since it would have been 2 weeks before Ouija: Origin of Evil. |

I don't blame them for moving it since October is already packed with horror (or horror-ish thrillers and substitutes for horror) releases. The new Underworld, Rings, Ouija 2, A Madea Halloween, The Girl On The Train, 31 (limited), The Greasy Strangler, and Blair Witch and Don't Breathe and a few others might still be in theaters too. LOTS of competition and several are part of well established franchises and/or are from established filmmakers. |

I just can't take that title seriously. Lol. Trailer wasn't good either (saw it before Blaie Witch) |

Trailers makes it seem like at least a 6/10 for me (slightly above average, maybe rewatchable, not mindblowing). Some bits were pretty creepy, especially with the photos. I'm looking forward to it.

It looked more like a 4 to me, just.... kinda generic and not overly effective. It was definitely the least bad trailer before Blair Witch (they followed it up with Ouija 2, Rings, and the final RE movie) |

I disagree because Underworld was moved to January too, 31 and Greasy Strangler getting too small of releases and are very niche movies that don't appeal to the teens that this movie wants, The Girl on the Train is very adult heavy and also doesn't have the full blown scares for horror audiences, and Blair Witch, Don't Breathe, When the Bough Breaks, Disappointments Room are already dead by this point. Rings and Ouija are the only direct competition this has for October and if it was moved to the 7th it would have a head start to those. Edited by Lasser, Sep 19 2016, 07:21 PM.

IMDB is listing the release date as January, which is where Studios put movies they don't have any faith in. So |

I know that I am the one who posted that here in the first place but what I am saying that they should have put it in October 7th anyway since it probably would have done better since it would be first horror film released that month unlike January. Amityville and Underworld are already geared up to be released ahead of this. |

Oh! I forgot about the new Underworld being moved, whoops. Lots of good movies have been released in January. I'll never get why people assume everything released in that month is garbage when that's definitely not the case. I still haven't seen the Rings trailer but I doubt it's terrible. Ouija 2 actually looks good and I think a lot of the "meh" stuff about that stems from the fact that it's a prequel to a mediocre film (that still wasn't absolutely godawful). |

It's based around how studios work. Like, there's actual articles explaining why January is called dump month. And a TV Tropes page explaining it. Good movies can be released, but it's reserved for movies that studios don't have faith in (either for being low quality and cheap or for a lack of marketability) But it objectively and factually is not a randomly panned month for no reason |

Then why have a lot of good movies been released in January? Probably comes from people being generally hard to please and overly critical (not a dig at you, just speaking in general lol). |

What you think is good and what a studio head thinks is good are very different. January is basically the filler time of year where they dump movies that aren't good for anything else. It's too soon for blockbusters, it's too late for awards movies, Rom Coms are being held onto for Valentines Day, the horrors they have the most faith in are saved for October, etc. January and non-Valentines-Weekend February are pretty much where studio heads schedule movies they don't care about, don't believe in, and don't have any interest in. That said, I think most recent January releases have bad critical reviews (considering Blair Witch and X-Men Apocalypse, those definitely matter in terms of box office. And I say this as someone who found Apocalypse awesome and hugely underrated) Again, another thing that plays into studio release decisions The TV Tropes article explains it in more detail, but |
