The trailer is insane. I definitely want to see this. A good, old home invasion movie. |

With a twist: they let her into the home in the first place. And instead of sending the babysitter screaming for her life, here the psycho is the babysitter herself. It's both The Strangers and When a Stranger Calls turned on their heads. I'm definitely gonna seek this out. |

The first two thirds is really good, but it doesn't come to a satisfying conclusion. There are some very intense scenes. I checked the trailer, and some of the best ones weren't in it. Sarah Bolger needs to have a long career in horror, because she makes this movie. It would not have been nearly as good without her. Towards the end, it starts to get closer to the standard thriller territory, but her presence makes up for it. The children were good. The youngest behaved realistically. He was very natural in front of a camera, instead of seeming like he was acting. The oldest was a bit sheltered, but it was in a believable way. The middle child was the weakest of the three, but I think it was understandable considering the material. I liked that they kept the children acting realistically for their age. The boy's plans fit his age and awareness. Two things did disappoint me. The ending could have been bigger, and they could have done more explaining of what was happening. I had to piece things together after the movie. I also think it hurt the tension. If you're trying to understand what's happening, you're out of the moment. The movie is short enough that it could include a minute or two of exposition. |

I want to watch this for Sarah Bolger because she looked to deliver a really good performance based on the trailer. |

I'll post a review later but one thing that stuck out to me was the really bizarre, sexual stuff in this. I definitely wasn't expecting to be feeling as uncomfortable as I ended up feeling. The tampon scene. What the fuck? I really hope that Spoiler: click to toggle

Ah, that makes sense. Okay, so that's ONE thing about this that's cleared up though there's still some things about it that are a little foggy. The age thing works though. After all, the oldest son was meant to be a bit rebellious and already seemed to be not-so-fond-of authority so it made sense for him to be the first to catch on that something wasn't quite right with the babysitter. The middle child, who I agree wasn't the best of the three due to the material she was given but I still liked the actress' performance, took a bit longer to catch on and wasn't as impressionable as the youngest, who was basically over the babysitter pretty much the entire time because he was the only one she was always warm and compassionate toward. Emelie doing certain things (the tape, the tampon scene, etc) just to fuck with the oldest son because she knew his age and all works too but I like the thought of her just doing certain things to test their boundaries and whatnot. I really liked this for the most part. I do kind of wish that Emelie Spoiler: click to toggle Emelie's 'activities' with the kids were a bit more 'out there' than I thought they'd be. They start off by eating tons of junk food, the kids painting all over the walls, and so on but it didn't take very long for things to get disturbing (the snake scene, eek!!). I liked that they went a bit all out with some of the things Emelie did with the kids but never got trashy with it. Sarah Bolger did a terrific job. She pretty much made this movie and while I didn't root for Emelie to succeed, I still loved the character. The music didn't stick out to me too much. The parents didn't get enough great stuff to do and I was a little disappointed that we Spoiler: click to toggle They totally should've went all Last House On The Left with the ending despite the fact that Spoiler: click to toggle The ending as a whole wasn't as strong or crazy as I wanted it to be and the last 15 minutes or so did make some things a little confusing but I didn't dislike it. It didn't ruin the film for me. 6/10 quality, 7+/10 entertainment. |

This was rather disappointing. It's been said in here that the first 2/3rds is particularly strong, but then the movie falls apart in the last third. Spoiler: click to toggle
