Hopefully this film works out a bit better than Cooties. |

Love JoCeline Donahue and it's giving me some strange Evil Dead vibes. |

I wouldn't be surprised if Evil Dead was an inspiration, actually. And Jocelin Donahue was awesome as the bitch in this, and she always managed to surprise me with what she'd do when faced with a threat. Definitely a survivor-mentality. I'd probably say she was my fav. character too. Though Diego Boneta (Pete from Scream Queens) was really likeable as the final boy too Just finished watching. Liked it. I really liked the twist on a standard genre, and I'm actually shocked I hadn't seen it done before actually. Some good atmosphere and suspense. And as I said, the characters are good (with Donahue and Boneta as the standouts for me. You also get Gabby's niece from Desperate Housewives as the more practical survivor girl type), though I really wish Spoiler: click to toggle This probably edges out Green Room for my second fav. horror of the year, though it's not even close to The Witch. I'd definitely recommend it Edited by Repo, Jul 20 2016, 07:17 AM.

Glad you enjoyed it! I just finished it and it was SO much better than I thought it'd be. I expected something totally generic but watchable (and I was worried it'd be like Cooties and fall flat) but instead got one of the most unexpectedly good horror movies of the year. I loved the main characters and how it did such a good job toying with my expectations. It definitely had some decent twists that were handled in a good, not over dramatic, way. The reason for the virus was actually rather cool. Like a review on imdb said, it's a good movie with a bad title (but they explain that...sort of). There's some good kills here and there but it's not a bodycount film despite having a title that'd be more fitting for a basic slasher. The infected people were also some of the scariest looking I've seen in a while which is a huge plus. I liked the location, the pacing was fine, and once it hit the halfway mark I was totally unsure of who would live or die (and the death order was almost the exact opposite of what I initially expected it'd be). I do kind of wish one or two of the secondary characters had more to do but that's a small complaint. The ending also worked really well and those kind of endings are totally hit or miss. Very solid<3 6.5/10 quality, 8/10 entertainment. |

I want to know why Netflix keeps not sending me this when no one else wants it. |

I knew to expect something better than that, but only due to reviews (which were also the only reason I really bothered with this) I also agree that I wish some of the other characters had gotten more to do, mainly the first one of the teens to die. I think it could've added a lot for (s)he to have a bigger role. That said, ending doesn't make all that much sense to me though and felt really forced Spoiler: click to toggle

It took so long for Netflix to send this to me that I was surprised that I recognized the leads, and I really liked all of them. Diego Boneta is better than he seemed on Scream Queens. I had also completely forgot what it was about, so it was a fun surprise when people started getting infected by a virus. I loved it. The plot seems tired, but they did something unexpected with it. I like that it was different in a way that had real consequences on the plot, instead of just being surface differences. They did a good job of making the cast seem bigger than it actually was. The only things that I did not like was that they could have made the characters a bit more interesting at the beginning and the shaky cam was a bit too much. |
