Confined to an asylum for the criminally insane for the past four years, Nica Pierce (Fiona Dourif) is erroneously convinced that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family. But when her psychiatrist introduces a new therapeutic “tool” to facilitate his patients’ group sessions — an all-too-familiar “Good Guy” doll with an innocently smiling face — a string of grisly deaths begins to plague the asylum, and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn’t crazy after all.

Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent), Chucky’s now grown-up nemesis from the original Child’s Play, races to Nica’s aid. But to save her, he’ll have to get past Tiffany (Oscar nominee Jennifer Tilly), Chucky’s long-ago bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved devil doll.

October 3rd

October's release schedule is starting to fill up, so I wanted to make sure the date is in the thread somewhere in the format that I search for.

So apparently this is going straight to Netflix? DreadCentral says it will be streaming starting on October 3rd.

I wouldnt say its straight to netflix. Its just going to pop up on Netflix the same day as it hits Blu Ray and DVDs. Straight to Netflix films dont get physical releases.

I keep conveniently forgetting that this is coming out soon. I did a marathon for TCM and even featured IT gifs for a week, so I feel like I should probably do the same for this. Maybe it would make me be more enthusiastic than I am.

This was the movie, I have been dying to see all year, I've been really looking forward,

It's was not a let down at all, it was even better then I expected to be and the curse, which I really liked.

The opening scence, was was strsnge but it worked , the pace of the movie was good, some of deaths were decent and gory.

Just saying I liked how story , kinda of connected, all the main characters, from the past sequels , into one place.

The chucky's were great, still had there funny one liners, here and there!

I liked how it ending, I didn't expect to end like that!

Great movie 8 out of 10

Glad you enjoyed it! All I know is that at least four characters from the first six entries are returning (with Chucky and Nica being two of them, obviously). I don't know who they are exactly. I haven't started rewatching the series yet but chances are that I will in time to watch this on Netflix or on Blu-Ray, whichever happens to come first.

My Cult Of Chucky bluray that I just picked up is weird. On the back, it says the R-Rated version is 91 minutes while the Unrated version is 90. Odd.

Really happy to own it, especially with the cool slipcase! Watching it as soon as I finish rewatching the first six films.

This movie looks good. I haven't finished yet, but I can see a little bit of a Hannibal influence. They got Michael Marshall for the cinematography, and he did a really great episode of Hannibal. He also did Wrong Turn 4 and Ginger Snaps: The Beginning. He did Curse of Chucky, but it's still funny that he's doing all of the horror franchise entries set in the winter.

Or maybe they're ripping off Hannibal. It's getting hard to tell.

I liked this, but Curse was better. Something about this one felt a little......flat? I'm sure it will grow on me with rewatches like alot of stuff does, but yeah. I expected a bit more. I will say, I hope they keep going with the series (I'm sure they will) since I'm interested to see where they go from the ending to this one, since the last 20 or so minutes were my favorite part.

I caught this on Netflix tonight. I actually like it more than Curse. I wanna revisit the series as a whole though. The original is on Crackle at least.

At first I was a bit put off by the way the institution looked, but it grew on me as the story played out.

I love the characters much more in this than Curse. They have so much more to do. Not only that, the question of whether or not Chucky is real or not works amazingly well in this setting. You don't know who to believe.

That one woman, Madeleine, I swear, could be Lili Taylor's sister.

I love Nica. I really do. She's so great.

This might actually be in my top three, but, as I said, I want to revisit the whole series. It's been too long.

I think those scenes are nice since they reintroduce beloved characters in fun ways. I was worried that the Curse scene was just a random throwaway scene so it was nice that Cult really ran with it. If the next film doesn't feature the character in Cult's credits scene, THEN I'll be annoyed and agree that they should stop with those scenes.

I'm kinda iffy in watching this. I heard it got mixed reviews. Curse looks like a tough act to follow, it answered some questions fans had and had cool fanservice cameos. Maybe I'll check it out this week.

I watched it again on AMC, and the one-liners were much more noticeable when I saw it a second time. I didn't really notice them the first time, but this had some good ones.
