So I don't know if you all remember, but Rob Zombie was planning on doing a remake of the original "The Blob" a few years back, but it never got around to happening.

I might be the minority, but I was actually kind of looking forward to it. I've always wanted Rob Zombie to take on the monster movie genre or at least make a film that's an ode to the 50s/60s B-movie monster genre. His HO1000 Corpses was more of an ode to 70s slasher flicks (TCM being obvious) and I think he'd have the chops to take on that genre, even the Blob is more classified as an alien than giant monster. but whatever. lol

In the article, I do definitely agree on changing the Blob from being a big red gloopy mess to maybe something more grotesque and destructive. I'd love to see it, and I imagine it would have probably taken place in a rural/southern redneck setting which is a nice change as opposed to a big populated city that big alien invasion/monster movies do.

Thoughts?

Rob Zombie's take on the Blob would have been interesting, to say the least. He would have had my money. For sure. Let's hope the remake we're getting instead, the one with Samuel L. Jackson, will be just as entertaining. Now that's one hell of a combination. Rob Zombie and Samuel L. Jackson? Man. What could have been.

Yeah, it could've been cool to see Samuel L Jackson and Rob Zombie work together. Though I imagine Rob would have used a combination of actors in his previous films and his wife which would have got repetitive as hell.

I had an idea that what if the mteor containing the Blob had crashed in the ocean and contaminated it and all sea life, and mutating all sea life into Blob like monsters. Just a fun idea. Because I can agree on just a big red Blob attacking being boring.

I don't find the idea of a big red blob attacking people boring. That's what makes the blob THE BLOB!

I'm not the biggest fan of Zombie but I would have wanted to see this film. It probably would have been cool visually and absolutely disgusting.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to agree with that. The Blob is the Blob, not the Thing. But I can do without the original 50s version. 80s remake all the way. Unless this new one proves better. It'd be interesting to make a Blob film be found footage. At least I think so. And I'm not snot a big found footage guy.
