Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

This is something that SteelersFan and I were doing, but thought that if two people were doing a challenge that it was enough for it to have a thread.

All you have to do is watch one movie from each year. It can be something you haven't seen before or something you're rewatching. The goal is to watch a wider variety of movies, so you only need to record one from each year. You do not need to do each year in order.

We plan on having our list start in the 1890s, so I thought it would be best to not have a list of years for people to fill out, since that would make this a really long thread.

I have four series that I'm watching or planning to watch in the next month or so, which is filling up a lot of my spots.

Slowly but surely I'm getting all my ducks in a row. Made a list and so far I have a few movies since this thing started, which I won't start to post on here until I have at least 50. Not sure if I'm going to include any of the [Rec] films I watched, even though that is one of my new favorite series now, just because the movie's original release date and the U.S.'s release date are different by a year for each film And I know we talked about this before when we nominated movies for the 2015 awards, about how we should go by the release date in which it was released in our own country, but I still don't know. I'll just overcompensate and watch more horror films than I have to. What a bummer, huh?

For mine, I am planning on just doing whatever makes sense for each movie. For my list, I am mostly using the years they were released in the country they were made, unless they are new enough that they would have been part of the Best and Worst of 201? Awards here. I have a few that I would be adding 5+ years to their release date if I went with when they were released in the United States, which goes against the reasons that I'm doing this.

I just use the year given on the main IMDb page for the film. The one in parenthesis right next to the poster. Simple, inarguable and definitive, just the way it should be.

Knocked off several years in 1980, 1983, 1984 and 1985 with the weekend's viewing plus the fact that I've been forgetting to credit 2016 means I'll add that one in officially so the updated list now reads:

I always check the details on IMDb. There are plenty of times that the year that was chosen is either random or incorrect, since anyone can edit it.

Their standards for quality control, though, make them far more reliable and trustworthy than anything else. You have to submit stuff and then have it be approved for it to be considered valid, which is a far more worthwhile manner of going about displaying information than other sources.

Knocked off several years in 1989, 1990, 1993 and 1994 with the weekend's viewing, so the updated list now reads:

There's a difference between displaying information and verifying information, though. IMDb is fine if you don't care if whatever you're doing is 100% correct and want something convenient, but it isn't a completely trustworthy authority.

Well, I trust that information more than Wikipedia, I'll just leave it at that.

Knocked off another year in 1968 with last night's viewing, so the updated list now reads:

I am baffled that you would think that I didn't think that what I was just saying wouldn't apply equally to Wikipedia. Wikipedia does occasionally get something right that IMDb gets wrong because of their requirements to show evidence if someone challenges part of an article, but neither should override your own common sense and official or primary sources.

Wanted to go on with the classic horrors, but couldn't pass up the chance to finish a decade so I knocked off 2000 with the weekend's viewing to finish the 2000s decade, so the updated list now reads:
