Marie is a young, single and unhappy female, being pestered about not having found a male partner yet by her father. She has become 26 years old and the verbal abuse she is getting from her father is becoming worse and worse.

Finally she meets John, a guy that seems to be the right one for her and they end up marrying each other and then move together to start a happy life. The dreams of a perfect and happy marriage that Marie has been dreaming about for years will not be fulfilled when the disturbing past of John starts to haunt their marriage.

I really liked the music in this - in some scenes anyway. The main character, Marie, was quite likeable and I wa on her side even when she was a little bit naïve and not really seeming to think things through. Some of the characters kind of treated her like shit and reacted poorly to her for no real reason. Her father (who became likeable later on, thankfully) was a bit of a pushy prick to her and was pretty much that "when you gonna hurry up and get married?" sort of relative that everyone dreads being around. There's a priest early on that kind of snaps at her randomly. And of course, there's John who is mostly hateable even before real conflicts start cropping up between him and Marie.

It took a while for this to really feel like any kind of a Horror film and then something big and kind of nasty happened twenty minutes in and then it slowed down. For like forty five more minutes. It's not an extremely boring film as a whole but I'm glad I watched this when I was hyper and caffeinated or else I might've tuned out during a few of the more talky, drawn out scenes. (wary)

The domestic violence aspect of this was unsettling. I kind of like that it wasn't kept hidden (after the first thirty minutes anyway) that John was a rather fucked up person. His reasons for his behavior didn't sit well. The last fifteen minutes of this were surprisingly rewarding and it was nice (and a tad realistic) that Marie still had conflicted feelings about John even when he was at his worst.

I didn't love this but it was alright I guess.

5.5/10 quality, 5/10 entertainment.
