![]() There is an ancient ritual known to humankind for more than a hundred years...According to the legend, an ominous entity known as The Queen of Spades can be summoned by drawing a door and staircase on a mirror in the darkness, and by saying her name three times. The Queen of Spades gets her energy from reflective objects; she cuts locks of hair from those asleep, and those that see her go mad or die. Four teenagers decide to call The Queen of Spades as a joke. But when one of them dies of a sudden heart attack, the group realizes they are up against something inexplicable and deadly dangerous. |

This plot has been done to death, but the poster is nice, and I still look forward to it, as I still honestly love the Bloody Mary type of story line, regardless of how many times it's been done. Love Candyman. Love Dead Mary. Love The Mirror Witch or whatever that mental asylum Bloody Mary movie was called, etc. etc. etc. |

It's a Russian film, which might add a bit of a twist. Or it can find a new way to be terrible, like Ghoul. |

I keep hearing how terrible Ghoul was... Was it like, so terrible that it's almost admirable? Let's hope this isn't one of those "bad' Russian films. But if it is, maybe it will go well with some vodka.

The only thing that keeps Ghoul from being mediocre is that it uses actual historical events badly. The characters are making a documentary about Holodomor. The movie doesn't deny that it was caused by the Soviet Union, but it downplays that it was an act of genocide. I think it only touches on it during one of the opening screens, but it never comes up in the characters' dialogue. |

This movie hopefully won't have any reason to bring up Stalin, so we shouldn't have to worry about that. |
