Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

Just curious about who you consider to be the most recent and new wave of Scream Queens?

If we're talking well known/mainstream, then unfortunately Emma Roberts and Abigail Breslin. I'm sure there's a few more that I don't really feel like thinking about.

Although, mostly unknown, Mindy Robinson is another one, as well as Suzi Lorraine. I guess they could be considered a younger Brinke/Linnea.

Not too sure I'd call Abigail Breslin unfortunate, she got an Oscar nom for a reason (she could pick actually good movies and shows, tho) Emma is. It's kinda funny, them acting like she's a SQ when she was first cast on that show was a complete joke, but she's actually done a bunch of horror stuff since.

Danielle Harris does a bunch of D-Grade stuff, so her. Tiffany Shepis is in a similar ship. Briana Evigan also does a pretty large amount of horror. Julianna Guill was shaping up to be a notable one, but kinda stopped doing horror out of nowhere. Jaime King seems to take on a fair amount of final girl roles, but I'm not all that she sure qualifies

Puppy, just because there's no evidence she killed her aunt doesn't make her dating material.

^The only reason I didn't mention Tiffany or Jaime, is cause I think they're kind of from the wave before Emma and Abigail. They definitely count as Scream Queens though.

Yeah I would consider Danielle Harris, Tiffany Shepis, or Jamie King from the wave before the current set or whatever.

I'd say Lauren Ashley Carter, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Anya Taylor-Joy are the recent ones that I feel have more or less hit that mark. Lauren Ashley Carter really has become this indie horror darling after her recent work, Winstead truly became one to me after 10 Cloverfield Lane but I know others have considered her one for years. Taylor-Joy has only been seen in The Witch as of now but she does have Morgan and Split coming up real soon and several other dark thrillers on the pipe line as well and so I think she really went down the horror path after her big break.

Maika Monroe sort of was very close to becoming one with the back to back hits of The Guest and It Follows but I feel like she left the genre almost right after before really sealing the deal for me.

MEW would also be the previous wave since she started moving towards horror with FD3 and BC. Anya Taylor-Joy could qualify though. I agree about Maika Monroe, but I hope she starts doing more again

I agree with the majority of these. Scout Taylor Compton is another. Eleven horror films (that I know of) including two big franchise entries in a nine year period and she's not even thirty years old yet. If nothing else, she's a 'scream queen in training' lol.

I'd add Katharine Isabelle as part of the 2000s wave. Even many of her non-horror movies tend to be "horror-adjacent". Agreed on Maika Monroe being too early to call on that front; she's only done two horror movies, and seems to be going into more non-horror work now.

I think the Halloween films solidified her role as a Scream Queen. Plus only horror fans really know who she is.

I just tried to think of as many as I could. The second list are a few people that have stuff coming out this year.

Lorenza Izzo
Chloë Grace Moretz
Isabelle Fuhrman
Vera Farmiga
Taissa Farmiga
Alexandra Daddario
Teresa Palmer
Lauren Ashley Carter
Katrina Bowden
Paz de la Huerta
Lauren Cohan
Sarah Wayne Callies
Olivia Cook

Alex Essoe
Imogen Poots
Kate Siegel
Tristian Risk
Jane Levy
Anya Taylor-Joy
Ashley Bell

I think Bella Thorne wants to be, but her horror movies end up sitting on the shelf too long.

I think the last batch and this batch can blur together, because a lot of them (Lauren German, Scout Taylor Compton, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Amber Heard, Julianna Guill, Briana Evigan, Danielle Panabaker, Katherine Isabelle, Chelan Simmons, & Jaime King) either fit in with multiple groups of scream queens or made movies in a year that could go either way.

I really want Olivia Wilde to be in more Horror movies. As it is, she's only been in a couple so she definitely doesn't count. Hopefully she'll start being in more since I loved her in The Lazarus Effect. I doubt she'll pop up in a bunch though, unfortunately.

Omg how did I forget Katrina Bowden? (cry)

Also, I think Katie Cassidy and Michelle Trachtenberg count as the wave before the newest wave of Scream Queens.

I'm not sure. I've never really been that interested in her enough to look lol. I only remember her doing BC though.

I don't think so, but shouldn't a long-running TV series count for something?

Just checked her imdb:

she was in those two things along with The Scribbler (sort of counts), an episode of Sleepy Hollow, and...that's it, it seems lol.

Ehh, it definitely makes the person deserving of some recognition but I feel like in order to be considered a 'scream queen' you should probably be known for more than just one character over a 15+ year period. (lol)

Particularly one near-unanimously hated character
