If people are constantly going to remake Romero's Dead films, couldn't they at least adapt his original draft for DAY OF THE DEAD? The so called "Ben-Hur of Zombie movies." The one George couldn't afford to make. |

Hard fuckin' pass. And incidentally, if Romero himself couldn't find someone to produce his original Day script, no one else should be allowed to, either. I would consider that not just pissing on his grave, but shitting on it as well. |

The bright side is that at least this remake isn't just an in-name-only cash in like the 2008 'remake and something tells me it won't be as offensively bad as Day Of The Dead 2: Contagium. |

Granted it's a remake, but I think once you've seen the trailer, you've pretty much seen the movie. I love their use of the Saint Francis prayer, though. Edited by Toyland Chairman, Jan 1 2018, 02:17 AM.

Always had a love/hate opinion on running zombies just as long as they are handled right, no stupid looking Spider-Man flips. Based on the carnage, it looks like it could be good but I might have to wait till DVD since Puerto Rico and horror movies have a dodgy history of being shown in theaters. |

Just about EVERYONE openly hating this film is probably the least surprising reaction to a Horror film this year so far.

I watched it, for the most part. I was becoming easily distracted. It's a pretty run of the mill zombie movie. Only a loose remake. Not really much to offer that hasn't been done to death in possibly thousands of zombies movies over the past 20 years alone. Spoiler: click to toggle It's been so long since I've watched the 2008 version. I don't think I could compare the two just yet. This one is maybe "slightly" closer to Romero's version, if that means anything. Edited by Toyland Chairman, Apr 15 2018, 07:51 PM.

I bought it from Wal-Mart the other day but I haven't watched it yet. One thing I can say is that the cover art is awesome, lol. |

I watched it just now. I have to admit I openly retract my biased opinion that I had a long time ago previously on it. I liked the name Rotters for the zombies and didn't mind at all that they ran like Dawn '04 or Day '07. Also, the happy ending given is one that usually most zombie flicks don't opt for so it's a breath of fresh air in a genre that always seems to go out on a down note. |

This was alright. I like that it included some of the things that were touched upon in the original Day Of The Dead's script even if they weren't handled well. Some of the characters were pretty decent and this had a fair amount of eye candy. My biggest gripe has everything to do with the strangely rape-excusing subplot involving Bub 2.0. It was pretty insulting and discomforting, took away from the lead character's strength, and was just...kind of gross in its execution. I know they were probably going for a "sense of empowerment" by basically having the lead sexually tease the man who tried to rape her but I did NOT get that feeling from it at all. I liked a few of the secondary characters a lot (especially the one who was shot in the head after being bitten - forgot her name, haha). Most of them blended together though. I don't want to ever hear anyone else complain about the "2 minutes of screen time" characters of Dawn (2004) because this was even worse. The new Rhodes was effective but not terribly intimidating. I got "nerdy guy who was picked on throughout childhood and finally found his 'power' during the outbreak and used said power for evil" vibes, almost like he just decided to put on a uniform and start barking orders as a way of compensating for something. Meanwhile, original Rhodes may have been the same sort of thing but I always felt that he was a legit military man who happened to become totally unhinged and control-freakish thanks to things he'd witnessed. So yeah, this was decent. Not memorable, not great, not terrible. Just decent. Too many survivors, too few risks taken. The gore was mostly great and I was fond of the look of many of the zombies. |

Picked up the DVD at a thrift store for around $4. Surprising, considering it's only been two months since it was released. I guess someone hated it. |

wow. this was a terrible movie. Quite possibly the worst remake yet of a Romero zombie film. I have seen the other remakes, they too are aweful. But this was a coat tail of a cash grab on the poor mans name and movie. Hollywood has no shame. |
