Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

Older review of mine from when I first saw this a month ago:

Robby and I just finished watching this and...wow. O_O
I erm...I think this may actually be my favorite horror film of this year so far, which says quite a bit since I enjoyed all of those that I've seen in theaters (Mama, TC3D, Hansel And Gretel, Dark Skies, The Last Exorcism Part II, Warm Bodies) to varying degrees this year.

The musical score was excellent and definitely added quite a bit of power and emotion to several scenes, also helping to build the suspense that I assumed the film would be lacking, strangely enough. I was also VERY fond of the coloration of the film, the shooting style and so on which added a bit of artistic flair to what could have easily been just another grimy looking torture flick. The violence, while plentiful, was often suggested rather than in-your-face and over the top, while remaining realistic and a tad harsh. The thought of some of these scenarios and choices = horrible to think about and even more than quite a few of the situations in the Saw series, Hostel, Nine Dead, and so on, made me rather uncomfortable. Not because of how nasty they were (the gore is close to nonexistant but there's a fair amount of blood) but because of hor awful they'd be to endure. The characters were fantastic. I loved the man who was holding the 'game' as well as the main butler/assistant and the son. They were all so hateable yet charismatic and I couldn't help but have my eyes glued to them whenever they were in focus and I couldn't wait to hear more dialogue from them. Amy was easily my favorite 'player' of the game, doing her part well with a nice performance by Sasha Grey that was actually better than expected, starting as a cold hard bitch and growing to show her vulnerability and even a bit of a backstory. Bravo Sash!

Cal was excellent as well, very sympathetic, and seeing his transformation was a great addition. Linda was extremely sympathetic and I didn't want to see any harm come to her. She had limited screentime but the actress did a lovely job with what was provided and the writers did the perfect job of making me feel bad for her. Iris was PERFECT, Brittany's performance causing me to gain a lot more respect for her. Iris was the most developed of the bunch, with an awesome story, and nice moments of both sacrifice and selfishness, sometimes in the same moment. The other four men were great as well but I'll wait to go into detail about how I felt about them if/when I make another post here (I probably will lol).

The death order was actually surprising with a few curveballs here and there. The final two however, were called by both Robby and myself from the first 30 minutes onward and while some may have predicted the very final scene (and I can definitely see why), I really didn't and it still managed to make my stomach drop and shock me.

VERY excellent film and I highly recommend it. 8.5-9/10

We should all make a promise pact and buy it. This film deserves our money.

I figured it'd only be around $10 since it wasn't a major release in theaters like most movies (which are usually only $15 at Walmart on DVD).

This probably won't hit Walmart. I'm guessing Best Buy and Amazon.

Ehh I'm pretty sure it'll reach WalMart. Most releases do.

I agree. ATM is indie and that was at walmart. I'm sure this will be too.
