Nica (Fiona Dourif) is grieving over the gruesome suicide of her mother when her domineering older sister Barb (Danielle Bisutti) arrives with her young family in tow to help settle their mother’s affairs. As the sisters butt heads over Nica’s plans for the future, Barb’s young daughter comforts herself with a grinning, red-haired talking doll named Chucky (voiced again by Brad Dourif) that recently arrived mysteriously in the mail. But as a string of brutal murders begins to terrorize the household, Nica suspects the doll may hold the key to the bloodshed. What she doesn’t know is that Chucky has a personal score to settle. He’s determined to finish a job he started more than 20 years earlier, and this time he’s going to see it through to the bloody and shocking end.

I can't wait for my dad to find out, he LOVES Chucky and got me into the series. We might have a marathon of the first 3 before this one.
Why only the first three? Bride and Seed are part of the continuity too.

Probably because Chucky will be solo in this new movie. So it's ignoring bride and seed.

I've read, with no spoilers, that it does tie in the entire series. So, I'm interested in seeing how they do that.

Never once have they said they are ignoring Bride and Seed. But it does not ignore either film. In fact both films are referenced in the movie.

Wow that's pretty interesting that it does tie.

It does make sense since at the end of seed Tiffany and Glenn/glenda are in human bodies while Chucky is still a doll. So I am guessing he either tried killing them for revenge (since his arm was inside a gift and he either successfully killed them or failed) or he ignores them for now and is looking for a human body somewhere else.

They said so in the press release when the movie was first announced back in September of 2012. Here is the link-

http://moviehole.net/201255037exclusive-curse-of-chucky-begins-filming-this-september

in fact, the film completely skips over the last couple of sequels, essentially taking place after “Child’s Play 3″

Now rather that'll hold true and Curse will flat out ignore the last two movies completely or it'll just make vague allusions to them- is still up in the air and we won't know until we watch the movie. Unless of course you saw the movie?

And I'm only watching the first three because I'm not a huge Tiffany fan. I prefer Chucky solo.

I think that quote means chucky will be by himself. the movies might be referenced in there. Only people who saw the screening in fantasia would know for now.

oops it says its after 3. Since that was in 2012, they might've changed it while filming.

Yeah, they could've totally decided to keep them in continuity between then and filming. I personally could care less as I'm just happy Curse has a more serious and darker tone and of course- Chucky back on his own. (thumbsup)

There was a screening of it at Fantasia International Film Festival. I know a guy who went. He told me they reference them in more ways than one including

. He didn't spoil anything big except the post credits scene, which I understand how he couldn't keep a lid on that.
