Just when you thought it was safe to go hiking in the bushes again...along comes Mick Taylor. Kristy, Ben and Liz are three pals in their twenties who set out to hike through the scenic Wolf Creek National Park in the Australian Outback. The trouble begins when they get back only to find that their car won't start. The trio think they have a way out when they run into a local bushman named Mick Taylor. Wait until you get a load of what Mick has in store for them. Their troubles have just begun.

I didn't read any posts at all for fear of spoilers, and I heard it was good. Should I hunt this one down?
Yes you should.

I have figured out why it took me so long to watch Wolf Creek 2. This movie drives me crazy. I absolutely hate the cinematography. They manage to make the setting look small, when the whole point of the movie is for it to look big. It is distractingly irritating. The story's structure also gets to me. There's good things about the movie, but it always seemed like one of those movies that are more about future potential.

The villain is the one part of the movie that I like without any reservations.

I actually think that is deliberate. Even though the outback is a vast wasteland of open spaces, they are trapped in Mick's little world with next to no chance of escape. Hence the smaller, claustrophobic cinematography.

I think you will enjoy 2 more then, as Mick is front and center in the sequel.

Or because every other movie in the mid-2000s looked like this. (troll)

I liked it better, but I can't say I liked it all that much.

I really hate the American theatrical release poster. It makes it look like a standard horror film, and it's actually a very unique, artistic film. The original poster of her just sitting in the road, looking completely broken is much, much, MUCH more effective... But hey, that's just me. I think brilliant horror films deserve brilliant posters.

See? So unsettling. So bleak.

^ I like that poster more too. I watched this again the other night before binging the entire series. I love it just as much as always, lol. As time goes on, the really slow pace of the first 50-odd minutes bothers me less and less.
